Hi all,

We’re reaching out to encourage your co-op to apply for the 2024 Governor’s Award for Business Excellence (GABE), one of Maine’s most prestigious business recognition awards. The application deadline is Friday, October 18, 2024, and the process is open through the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD).

Governor Mills and Commissioner Heather Johnson invite businesses that exemplify a commitment to their community, employees, and industries to apply. Co-ops play a key role in shaping Maine’s economy, and this is a great opportunity to highlight the excellence and innovation co-ops bring to the state.

Award Categories:

  • Innovation Award – Celebrates excellence through entrepreneurship and innovation.
  • Rural Revitalization Award – Recognizes contributions to the growth of rural Maine.
  • Heritage Industry Award – Celebrates businesses in agriculture, forestry, manufacturing, or marine sectors.
  • Climate Leader Award – Highlights businesses leading in climate mitigation and innovation.

If your co-op aligns with any of these categories, we encourage you to submit your application through DECD’s new online portal by 11:59 PM ET on Friday, October 18.

This is an excellent chance to showcase your co-op’s contributions and be recognized at the state level. We hope to see many of our co-ops represented in this year’s submissions!

More details, including the application link, can be found on the DECD website.

Best,
