Co-op Maine Phone Meeting, notes, Tues, Feb. 19, 2013

Larry Dansinger (facilitating), Rod Lahern (Ft. Kent), Paul Sheridan (notes, apologies for misspelling of Rod’s name in earlier issue)

Suggestion that we send a "meeting reminder" to the larger CM mail list whenever the agenda is sent to the smaller Work Group list, with invitation on how to join that list.

Rod reported on the progress they were having in Fort Kent progressing from a buying club to a food/local goods Market Street Co-op.   Stacy Martin has agreed to be manager. They are also looking at crafts sales, basically focus is "local."  Congrats on their next steps--anyone near enough: please visit, provide business, tell your nearby friends.

HOPE Festival, Orono, April 27.   We need a "DOT" (Do One Thing) action item, to have at our table (see article, at bottom).  Two possibilities discussed were:
1. Contact your state reps to support a strong GMO-labeling bill (along with this link: <maine.gov/portal/government/edemocracy/lookup_voter_info>)  MOFGA is already working on this too.
2. "Join One Co-op--or Join Another..." along with our directory info: <maine.find.coop>
Also needed is a presenter for a short talk on CM's work.  Paul will draft up both #1 & 2 to see which is more feasible, and ask the group for a presentation volunteer--anyone?
We will also request a room for a possible Annual Meeting afterwards, approx. 4-6 pm--thanks to Mike Howard, in advance.  Need people to staff table in Orono, 11Am-4Pm. Please see <http://doodle.com/sa5yztm4xhhbdbtr>

No further news available on the coming Health Care "COOP" in the state. Would have to be up and running by November, if replacing Dirigo Health. Perhaps someone with knowledge receiving these notes can inform the list? Thanks.  Word of a meeting 2/28 at MOFGA, anyone have details?  Anyone going already, willing to mention "true cooperative" and CM?

Application are due shortly for Common Ground Fair.  Will we have people to commit to staff the table?  Paul will put out a Doodle.  Re-ordering t-shirt item to be kept on agenda until decided.

How to evaluate, decide to keep or change the new meeting time?  Suggest one-to-one conversations.
"What works for you?  What do you need to be more involved?"

Larry will send out the agenda and reminder for March 19th, 4 PM next phone meeting.
