Kickstarter for Mirlo: a DC based digital music store platform

Hi all!

I'm very excited to announce that the Kickstarter for Mirlo went live.

Mirlo is a worker co-op run online platform designed for musicians to upload, share, and sell digital music directly to their listeners. Mirlo also makes it easy for listeners to support artists with ongoing monthly financial payments, creating a flow of money for musicians to support creation of new work. What excites me, though, is Mirlo’s governance model and that it centers the community in all of its decisions.

But if we want to do this right, we’re going to need money, which is why I'm e-mailing!

Hey all! Mirlo just went into the last week of its campaign and on Kickstarter it’s all or nothing, and we’re going to need your help getting across the finish line. With trombone serenades, buttons, co-op t-shirts, hats, and unique experiences with our co-founders, there’s still a lot of rewards to choose from. Pitch in today and claim your reward!

We also have some exciting updates from behind the scenes. Our co-owners have been doing some interviews. Alex talked to Josh from the GEO Collective about the project, our future plans, and our campaign, while Simon talked to Richard from SustainOSS about sustainability in open source software. 

Our kickstarter campaign has also boosted the amount of people who have uploaded music to Mirlo. When we first started drafting the language for the campaign we had 160 artists with roughly 400 albums, which has grown to 260 artists with 550 albums uploaded! We’re excited that musicians are finding us and trusting us with what they’re making. 

Please continue telling your friends about Mirlo and our campaign. Every contribution helps and will set us up for success in the long term.
