I am running Excel 2007 on Windows 7 X64. Coolprop was working very nicely, installed about 2 years ago. But recently I upgraded it as I was trying to write a clear procedure for a colleague to install Coolprop in order for him to use my spreadsheets. Now Coolprop throws a compile error in CoolProp.xlam as soon as Excel is started , and again when Excel is closed.

I have tried moving CoolProp.xlam to the trusted library location, but to no avail.

This problem happens only on my PC at home; my office PC, also Windows 7 X64 but with MS Office 2016, has no problem with Coolprop.

Can anyone suggest what's happening and how I might fix it?

Upgrade your Excel at home :)  2007 is 10 years ago now. You could try installing the XLAM from an older version of CoolProp - perhaps 6.0 or so.

Hi,

I am not sure what your problem is, but why not try the shiny new
installer that I made for Excel and EES?

https://sourceforge.net/projects/coolprop/files/CoolProp/6.1.0/Installers/Windows/

I'm sorry but it does not work at all, it doesn't unwrap itself and it can't find its own bits and pieces.

I get a error message saying "The most recent error number is 53. Its message text is: File not found:CoolProp_stdcall.dll"

It works beatifully on my jobpc on windows 7, but on my own windows 10 nothing happens. Exept the error message. I am fully aware that most computer problems arise 50 - 75 cm from the screen, so what am I doing wrong, or what steps did I miss. I just use the installer and everything went haywire.

Hi,

It looks like your Excel cannot find the dll:
(a) the DLL is not in a folder included in the PATH variable,
(b) some security feature (Windows or Antivirus) keeps Excel from
accessing the DLL.

I am running Excel 2010 and Windows 10 with CoolProp without any
problems, it also works on Windows 7 and Excel 2013 for me.

Have you tried removing all traces of an earlier installation? Maybe
there are some leftovers somewhere. You could start by going to the
add-on manager and disable whatever is left of CoolProp in Excel.
Afterwards, you can uninstall the Add-on and then you can try to search
your local disks for "(*coolprop*(xla|xlam|dll))", locate the files and
delete them.

Finally, go for a fresh reinstall of the add-on. I hope that helps.
