Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars(tm) Worldbuilder
ReadMe File - April, 2007
==================================================================

Thank you for downloading Worldbuilder for Command & Conquer 3
Tiberium Wars. Electronic Arts designers use this development
toolset to create single-player missions and multiplayer maps for
Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars, including all of the maps and
missions that shipped with the game, and now it's available to
you.

IMPORTANT: This Software is Provided "As-Is"
==================================================================

This toolset was originally designed and primarily intended for
internal use by the designers at Electronic Arts, and as such, it
is not commercial software primarily designed for mass-market use.
Therefore, Worldbuilder is provided on an "as-is" basis.
Electronic Arts (EA) does not provide Technical Support or
Customer Support for Worldbuilder. You may only use Worldbuilder
pursuant to the terms and conditions of the EA Tools & Materials
End User License, which you will be prompted to accept or decline
each time you run the software.

NOTE: While Worldbuilder is not officially supported at all, it
was primarily used with the Windows XP operating system during
the development of Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars, and may work
less reliably in other operating systems. Any references to file
locations or operating system instructions in this ReadMe file
assume you are running Windows XP.

Known Issues with Supported Map Types
==================================================================

Worldbuilder was originally intended to let designers create three
different types of maps: Multiplayer maps, Skirmish maps (which
can also be used for multiplayer matches), and Single-player
Campaign maps.

However, this public release of Worldbuilder is specifically
intended to let you create multiplayer or skirmish maps only.
While the Worldbuilder toolset contains features for creating
single-player campaign maps (as well as documentation for creating
such maps), Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars is not compatible
with user-created single-player campaign content at this time.

A separate Mod SDK release for Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars
will enable users to create and run their own single-player
content for the game. If you do not have the Mod SDK for Command &
Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars, you may still use Worldbuilder to learn
and explore methods for creating single-player content. However,
you will not be able to fully test or play this content unless you
have the Mod SDK.

Consequently, those Worldbuilder features that pertain
specifically to single-player campaign map design (such as
artificial intelligence behavior and scripting) should be used at
your own risk. Furthermore, the provided documentation of these
features is for educational use only.

Multiplayer Map-Making Basic Walk-through and Checklist
==================================================================

This release of Worldbuilder is only intended for use with
multiplayer and skirmish maps (skirmish maps are made by adding
a few more elements to multiplayer maps). Multiplayer maps, in
their simplest form, are relatively easy to create. To get you
started, here is a brief walk-through of how to set up a basic
map that's compatible with Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars.
You may wish to refer to the Worldbuilder manual for further
details on any of the following steps.

To create a basic multiplayer map,

1. Run Worldbuilder from the directory in which you installed
Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars.

2. Open the Player List (Edit > Edit Player List).

3. Click the "Add Skirmish Players" button at the bottom and
click "Ok" to close the player list.

4. Use the waypoint tool (Shortcut: W) and set players'
starting locations, by using the tool and left-clicking the
areas on the map where you want the start locations. Maps may
support a maximum of eight players.

5. In the Waypoint Options box, use the dropdown menu to select
"Player_1_Start", "Player_2_Start", and so on, until all of
your waypoints are defined.

6. Save your map (File > Save); the filename you define will
be the name of the map in the game menus.

7. Run Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars; your map will
appear in the Skirmish menu and will also be available in
Multiplayer for Online and LAN use.

To aid you, here's a checklist for making sure you've covered
all the bases in your multiplayer map:

[ ] Added Skirmish Players from the player list.

[ ] Defined all starting locations using the waypoint tool.

[ ] Resized the map to the appropriate size (File > Resize).

[ ] Modified the terrain with the Height Brush (H), Mound
(Shift + H), Dig (Ctrl + H), and Smooth (S) tools.

[ ] If map is symmetrical, used the Terrain Copy Tool to
copy, rotate, and paste each section.

[ ] Painted on Textures (T) and blended them.

[ ] Confirmed all passability, Tiberium growability, and
buildability using the Terrain Material Objects window (T).

[ ] Placed Tiberium fields with the Place Object Tool (P).
Tiberium is located under ByNativeType > Neutral > MiscNatural;
make sure to place Green and/or Blue fields.

[ ] Placed any tech structures with the Place Object Tool (P).
Tech structures are located under ByNativeType > Neutral >
Structure.

[ ] Placed any additional civilian buildings, garrisonable
buildings, or other objects with the Place Object Tool.

[ ] Placed any still water or rivers using the corresponding
Lake and River tools.

[ ] Adjusted the lighting settings or time of day (Ctrl+D
cycles through them).

[ ] Saved map.

There are many more steps to developing a multiplayer map,
including balancing and tuning it, using the grid, and laying
textures, tech buildings, Tiberium, and more. For more
information about designing content for Command & Conquer 3
Tiberium Wars, consult the Worldbuilder manual in the
Worldbuilder install directory, or look for the community
section in the official Web site for Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium
Wars, located at:

Map Transfer and Storage
==================================================================

Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars allows players to automatically
distribute their created maps to other players who do not already
have those maps. This map transfer process occurs after players
have all agreed to start the match, implying their consent to
receive the map if they don't already have it.

Maps created in Worldbuilder are automatically saved to the
default directory for created maps, which is (assuming Command &
Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars is installed to the C: drive):

C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR WINDOWS LOGIN>\Application
Data\Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars\Maps

NOTE: The "Application Data" folder is hidden by default. If you
cannot see it in Windows and wish to access it, go to the root
directory, select "Tools", select "Folder Options" from the menu,
click the "View" tab, and select the "Show hidden files and
folders" option under Advanced settings. Then click OK.

地图传输和储存
==================================================================

Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars

C:\Documents and Settings\<你的Windows登录名>\Application Data\Command &

Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars\Maps
