Here's a recent Ethan sighting. Chauncey did say in passing that his brother watches all the movies with him, so perhaps Ethan is a full-time filmmaker? He was involved in writing the script of some of Chauncey's recent productions. He was originally planning on being a graphic designer, but I don't think he pursued that.

Does anybody have any Ethan Phillips news?

I was suprised to see Ethan credited as a writer. When he started to make appearances in the early San Diego days, he seemed to only be interested in hip-hop, fashion, and skating. I don't recall him expressing much interest in film. His old channel is still up. In one of the videos, he mentions wanting to work at a skate shop and pursue his passion for music (but doesn't really go into specifics here). Also, he was hoping to build up his YouTube channel. I think one of the reasons he stopped making videos is because people would often speculate on his sexuality. He didn't take kindly to those comments. Then he decided that he didn't want appear on camera anymore. He came across as a too-cool-for-school stoner in his later appearances.

He could very well be a "full time" screenwriter or whatever, but in the same sense that Shawn was a "full time" actor. I think that "Gina" and "Herb" are very lenient and will financially support their kids no matter what. Their new age-y parenting style has yielded some interesting results, to say the least.

I suspect Ethan isn't working, and that's why he wants to remain off-camera. Chauncey was buying him food on Tuesday afternoons.

I do wonder how it's affordable for Herb and Gina. Chauncey probably makes a better living now that he's mass-directing crowd funded movies every few months, but health care & California living costs have to pile up. They spend like $100 every 2 months on paper plates for example.

Also, it's funny how Ethan looks EXACTLY like Gina, and Chauncey looks EXACTLY like Herb. Although Ethan has more common interests with his father (both into pop culture art), and Chauncey seems closer to Gina (they work out together at the gym / shop at CostCo together). I think this is due to being around each other so much (not throwing shade).

I think either of them could massively benefit from learning photography from their pops.  Shawn could apply some of that sort of off-the-wall art photography into his films and it would probably help with shot composition, lighting, etc.

I always thought it would be funny if they did a skit where they played their parents. The resemblance is uncanny. I wonder if Ethan is going bald?

Chauncey doesn't seem to be a student of film. His reviews are very vague, he never does any character or story analysis, no insight on the directing etc. He enjoys the output process, but never really scratches the surface of high level film production. We've all seen people in the youtube golden age graduate into using more powerful cameras, and making content with higher production value. It's good that he's attempting to direct feature films now, but it does feel a bit lazy with the one-take shots without an actual script.

Herb is an accomplished artist, it's a tremendous waste to not use his guidance - especially given their interests should overlap.
