Troop Cookie Managers and Leaders –

The following email communication will go out to all cookie volunteers tomorrow via email. However, we wanted you to be the first to know about some really exciting things that are going on – one of which is happening THIS WEEKEND!! Please read the email below carefully.

COOKIE CLEARANCE – EARN $1/PACKAGE PROFIT ON THIS LAST CHANCE OPPORTUNITY!
By popular demand, we have extended additional cookie pickup for one more weekend! This will give your troop a chance to make extra money, participate in more Troop Organized My Sales over the next few weekends, and for customers to get the last of their favorites for $3.50! If you currently have cookies on-hand, please make sure that you have paid your entire 2013 Cookie Program balance, and continue to sell your remaining inventory to refund your troop treasury.

If you do not have cookies leftover or would like to obtain more, you can pick up additional cookies THIS WEEKEND, March 22 – 24!
-Cookies must be paid for upfront and are $30/case (typically $42/case). We will be accepting checks or credit cards!
-All varieties are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
-Troop Cookie Managers or a troop representative must bring the current 2013 Warehouse Card to the warehouse in order to pick up additional cookies.
-Cookies must be sold for $3.50/package. Your troop will earn $1.00 in profit, so cookies will not be entered into eBudde and will not count towards girl recognitions.
-All troops from our council jurisdiction are invited to participate!

Additionally, we are super excited to announce two big changes to the 2014 Cookie Program!

COOKIES EXPRESS: COOKIES IN HAND!
Cookies Express is the exciting new format for the 2014 Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas Cookie Program. From the first day of the Cookie Program, January 10, 2014, girls will have packages of cookies in-hand! This means selling, delivering and money collection is done in one easy step! It’s easy for Girl Scouts and customers are instantly gratified!

Why Cookies Express?
-Moving to Cookies Express will help align the Cookie Program with our sister Council – Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains. All Girl Scouts in the DFW Metroplex will sell cookies as a united front!
-It is the simplified Cookie Program that girls, parents, and customers have been requesting.
-It saves time for girls and families, which frees up more time to reach more customers!
-Girls will have the opportunity to sell more cookies, achieve their goals faster & have immediate results to earn more money for their activities and projects.

COOKIE BOX RETAIL PRICE INCREASE: FIRST TIME IN SIX YEARS!
In 2014, the price of Girl Scout Cookies in Northeast Texas and Texas Oklahoma Plains will increase from $3.50 to $4.00. The cost of running the Cookie Program has increased steadily. Raw materials like sugar and flour, bakery production, and cost of fuel used to transport the cookies have increased over the past few years, yet our council hasn’t raised the price per box in some time – six years to be exact! Increasing the price of cookies will allow us to cover the additional costs and invest more in our girls.

Where will the additional money go?
-All money will continue to stay in our local community & help GSNETX offer girl programming
-We are currently modeling how the price increase may be able to benefit both council and our girls

2014 COOKIE PROGRAM DATES
You’ll find out more information about the 2014 Cookie Program at these events:

September: Cookie U with GSNETX and Little Brownie Bakers
October: Service Unit Cookie Coordinator Cookie Program Training
November: Troop Cookie Manager Cookie Program Training
December: Placing Orders based on last year’s initial order
 January: Cookie Pick-up

As the most successful financial literacy program for girls, the Girl Scout Cookie Program helps girls develop the five key leadership skills. This girl-led business uses every penny to invest in girl programming in all communities. We look forward to the 2014 Cookie Program and all of these exciting changes!
