Hello all faithful centering
pray-ers--
I want to invite you to a some opportunities for
silence this Advent here at St. Andrew's.
Beginning tonight and on Wednesday,
December 9 and 16, 5:45-7:00pm, we will have two periods of
Centering Prayer with a brief contemplative walk between and a short time for
Advent reflections afterward. Meets in the chapel.
On Saturday, December 12, we will have an
Advent quiet morning, "In Silence We Wait." The main part of the day is
9:00am-12:30pm, starting with morning prayer, then two periods
of centering prayer, and an hour or so of unstructured silence for your own
retreat and reflection. There are a number of things you may "do" at the church
during that time. A list will be provided. And you are also welcome simply to
sit and continue your centering prayer.
For those who want an extra time of communal
silence that day, there will be an early morning "monastic
hour" from 7:00 to 8:00am. We will have two additional
periods of centering prayer in the darkness-into-dawn. If you come to this early
morning time, you are invited to help afterwards to set up hospitality for those
who come at 9:00am. We will meet for this Advent quiet morning in the parish
hall.
All are welcome. An RSVP to me would be most
appreciated to help with planning.
I want you to be aware that our friends in the
Contemplative Outreach of Puget Sound North chapter will be hosting an Advent
day of retreat at St. Mary's on the Lake on the east side. This is also to be
held on December 12. Here is the link if you are interested in exploring that
option: http://www.copugetsound-north.org/events.html.
I hope you are able to find times for silence this
Advent on your own and with others. If you know of other opportunities that
should be publicized to our Contemplative Outreach Northwest list or any other
updates, please send them to me and i will send them on.
Many peaceful blessings,
cherry
