Hello dear Centering Pray-ers--
Here are some events in February:
1. Sorry that i did not get this notice out
earlier, but you are welcome to join in Trinity Everett's Lenten Program for
Centering Prayer that actually is getting a jumpstart before Lent. The series,
"A Training Course in Opening to the Presence of God," began last
Tuesday, Feb. 3, but you are welcome to join in. The DVD series put out by
Sounds True features segments by Fr. Thomas Keating, Gail Fitzpatrick-Hopler,
and Fr. Carl Arico. It is now recommended for use as a follow-up series for
Saturday Centering Prayer introductions.
2. It's not too late to sign up for the Centering
Prayer Retreat at St. Thomas Medina this Saturday on Valentine's Day. This
retreat day features the one-day Centering Prayer introductory workshop. Many of
those attending have a longstanding practice of Centering Prayer so the day will
serve as a refresher for them. You too are welcome to come be refreshed. If you
know someone looking for an intro, please invite them to go with
you.
3. Start Lent off with a Lenten Quiet Morning at
Saint Mark's Cathedral on Saturday, Feb. 21. The morning begins with morning
prayer followed by two periods of Centering Prayer and an hour or more of shared
unstructured silence in which you may continue your Centering Prayer, go for a
contemplative walk, or do other forms of meditation like gazing at an icon. A
list of suggestions will be available.
4. A day long Contemplative Retreat
on Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 8:45 AM to 3:30
PM. The retreat will be conducted in silence and consist of two and
three 25 minute blocks of sitting with 5 minutes of contemplative walking
between each sitting session. The retreat will end at 2:30 PM.
The retreat will be followed by an optional shared refreshment social gathering.
At
Saint Michael Westside Chapel,
Olympia.
