Cananyone tell me what the sweet spot is for the Dblue 10' MH spinner. It's rated 2-5 and I want to know if it would be a good fit for 1-3 oz jigs/plugs as well as 5-6 oz + bait (clam/bunker). I hate to get the lighter one and not be able to throw bait when needed. But I also don't want something too stiff to throw the lighter stuff. I primarily boat fish and want a good all around rod for when I hit the beach. In a perfect world I would get more than one rod, but I don't want to get crazy yet. I am really on the fence about getting the 11'4 conventional for bait and big plugs, but I feel the 10' would be more versatile. I know there is a lot of info on these rods, but not much on the 10' MH. Any and all experiences with these rods would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I bought the dblue 11' spinner about two months ago ..I've thrown up to 6oz of lead, but for lures. I stick to 3oz..anything less than that I can't get a good cast. So for the 11', 3oz is the sweet spot. The 11' is rated for 2-7oz but I think it's more like 3-6oz.
I havd the 11' 4" conventional and it throws an 8 oz weight and bait just fine. I think that you will be pleasantly surprised on how well it will throw your bait rig. With the price of DBlue rods, it's not hard to justify buying two. I have four of them.
The 10' 2-5 has a sweet spot at around 3 oz but I have thrown 5 oz jigs with it many times and am sure 5 and bait would be ok. The 11' 2-7oz is a stiffer rod and really needs 3+ oz to load it and it will probably throw 8 and bait as long as you don't really power cast it but I have not tried it..
