I have Oracle Applications Server 10g, when i run forms on windows XP or windows 7 32-bit clients machines, forms works perfectly, but when i run forms on client windows 7 64-bit system, i have problems. Actually problem is in very slow working on oracle jinitiator. When i'm prompted for username/password@database for connecting on my menus, i have graphic problem... i can't see mouse coursor and " cant type anything in login form fields. If i click with mouse out of IE or Java screen, then I see mouse coursor...
This post is now 6 years old, lots of parts of the solution have moved on. What version of IE are you using, have you tried using that in compatibility mode? Check out the out comments, search for fatal as others have the same issue, some of the comments might shine a light on a solutions which works for you. If you do find a solution please let us all know what worked for you. The original post was working when using IE 8 and Windows 7, so do not expect it to work with anything newer.

The repainting of the screen is cause by the version of oracle forms, because it just isnt designed to be ran on Windows 7.
If this is causing issues with you being able to see parts of the screen, then there is not much that you can do.
Spent several days tracking down a jvm.dll crash problem that was affecting these XP machines, I knew it had to be in the Jinitiator 1.3.1.13. Out of desperation I tried it and this fixed it. Thank you so much!
Apart from to get whoever programmed the app/forms to get it running with the latest Java JRE, or any JRE rather than relying on a technology that is years old and basically just an Oracle made dumbed down version Java Runtime.
Hi,
Sadly, I am not able to upgrade the version of jinitiator, and am just trying to get our unsupported version of ebusiness to run on windows 7. I have it working using XP mode, but it would be simpler to deploy if I could get it to work without using XP mode.
As I mentioned, this is not a version supported by Oracle, and with no support I cannot download the e-business patches that would be necessary for the Jinitiator upgrade. Also, as I have no Oracle support, I also have no access to any metalink articles that would explain how to do the upgrade.
Pretty section of content. I just stumbled upon your weblog

One other thought, is there any way to put this jvm.dll file in the oajinit.exe so that every time it is installed, it installs with the working jvm.dll?
This would be easier than having to install Jinitiator and then overwriting the jvm.dll file, especially for users in remote locations.
When I originally commented I seem to have clicked on the -Notify
me when new comments are added- checkbox
and from now on each time a comment is added I receive four emails with the same comment.
Perhaps there is an easy method you can remove me from that service?
Thanks!

I followed blog instructions and installed 1 metalink patch. The other patch failed to install all the way.
Thank you very much for your reply soon, the installation was successful, I was able to navigate within the application, but under the services, but again I lift me when I come wing mark application errors that previously send.

i have installed Oracle R12 Application on my machine but when i open form by login into the system i am getting an error: In order to access this application, you must install the J2SE Plugin version 1.6.0_07. To install this plugin, click here to download the oaj2se.exe executable. Once the download is complete, double-click the oaj2se.exe file to install the plugin. You will be prompted to restart your browser when the installation is complete.
Even after installing the suggested Java version forms are not opening.
I have removed all versions of java and installed the suggested version still no luck.
I have tried IE11, Chrome, Mozilla but it is not working.
Any help on this will be worth.
The Java deployment technology component has been removed from JRE 6 & 7 starting with the October 2017 releases JRE 1.6.0_171 and JRE 1.7.0_161. While the removal of this component means these releases and higher can no longer be used to initially launch Java they can still run it. Using these releases now requires JRE 8 to also be installed on the desktop to initially launch Java before the earlier release is used to run the Java content. For details on how to implement this see Java Plug-in Coexistance on a Desktop Client.
Note: Oracle strongly recommends that Oracle E-Business Suite customers move to the latest and therefore most secure CPU public build version of the JRE Native Plug-in available for any certified Java family (JRE 7 or 8) as listed below.
Oracle recommends that Oracle E-Business Suite users run this latest and most secure Crtical Patch Update (CPU) JRE release.
This is available for download through the Java.com public site. This is also available through the Oracle Technology Network (OTN) public site and as a patch from My Oracle Support which is listed in the JRE Parameter Settings table.
The JRE 7 stream has reached 'End of Life and is no longer available through the public download sites. Oracle E-Business Suite users can continue to run JRE 7 during the extended support period of their EBS release. For further information see Java SE 7 End of Public Updates Notice.
Note: Users wanting to run Java content using JRE 1.7.0_271 must also have JRE8 installed on their desktop to initially launch Java. For seamless operation it is recommended to install JRE 1.8.0_261 or later of which JRE 1.7.0_271 is a security baseline. See Java Plug-in Coexistance on a Desktop Client for further information
The October 2018 CPU (JRE 1.6.0_211) was the final release on the Java 6 stream. Users that are still using JRE 6 are strongly recommended to upgrade to JRE 7 or JRE 8 in order to uptake the latest CPU release.
