My Air is only a few weeks old and all of a sudden the keyboard stopped working. An external keyboard works (USB-C connection and bluetooth), but the internal keyboard is non-responsive except for the power button. I ran diagnostics and everything reports back okay. I went through the Apple suggestions - slow keys isn't checked, the correct keyboard input is selected, etc. Software is up today. Is the quality really suffered that much? First, my two year old MacBook Pro dies ((display went out and it was $$$ to fix it despite it being a clear displaygate problem -- all of the textbook symptoms were met) ) and now a few weeks old M2 Air is not working? Any suggestions on fixes other than trying to find an open slot in the Genius Bar? Disappointing to say the least. Thanks in advance.
I had the same issue! I bought MacBook air m2 12 days ago! Today the keyboard stopped working, I reboot the system but still does not work, and right now I can't turn on my laptop because can not type through the keyboard. The external keyboard was working for a couple of hours, then it stopped working too. The engineer at the apple store take a look and said that its the manufacturer's problem, I told them I want to return it but they did not accept that. I asked for a replacement, but they did not agree with that too! They said they can fix it for free and that's because I have Apple care +. I don't know what to do, it's the worse experience ever! and also the worst support!
I have the same issue . I contacted apple and they would fix it for over $600 which was an estimate , they said it would cost more possibly. I was out of warranty by 9 days. This is poor on apple who use to right their wrongs. Apple should be replacing every MacBook Air 2022 M2 that has done this. This is not an isolated problem , this is on a larger scale . Apple fix the hardware and issue a recall
I'm starting to think it's caused by temperature (this thing has no fan). I've started using it on a cool surface with the aircon going. The crashing seems to happen less often but it's still a daily event ;-/
so I just wiped out my Mac and boom it worked, so I think if you mess with the voice controls at all it might glitch it b/c mine kept turning on with voice activation, but I'm using it now- nobody could figure it out and I was going to send it to a repair apple person but fed ex messed up and put the wrong label and it just sat there and then came back to me still sealed with my seals lol, so I called and we decided to erase and start fresh just to see- b/c I couldn't input any passwords etc. also I got this one on amazon prime and have a return of jan 2023, where as apple is 14 days- So fingers crossed it truly was with the voice dictation program- if I mess with that part and it happens this baby is off to amazon prime - to $$ to deal with little glitches
Hello, I want to thank you for the instructions. I had made some changes without realizing the effects, so your walking me through that was very helpful. I am in the middle of a move so I have a million things going on in my head right now. The computer is for my wife so I am trying to prepare it to take with me when I move. Your guidance was impeccable!
MacBook Air m2, 2022. Keyboard has suddenly stopped working. Tried all the solutions I could find on internet but nothing is working. This is really bad on part of apple. Bought such a costly laptop and it's useless in a year. mine is out of warranty and I don't want to spend a fortune again to get it fixed. Did anyone find any other solution?
Almost the exact same thing didn't even have a three weeks the right side of the keyboard started stopping I had to send it back they said do you want us to check with you if it's going to call some money also **** yeah i'm going to return it if it does
Note:
Before bug reporting, please make sure you have tried the latest (alpha) version of BetterTouchTool and that you have already tried to restart your system :-). If you encounter a crash, please attach a crash log from the macOS Console.app from the "User Diagnostic Reports" section.
Today after installing macOS 14.4.1 updates to an M2 MacBook Air and an M1 iMac24 keyboard shortcuts that are configured the same on both machines are no longer working on the MacBook Air. They work as always on the iMac. These are simple keyboard shortcuts that trigger macOS Shortcuts.
Describe the bug
A clear and concise description of what the bug is. Any bug reports that contain insults against me or my software will be deleted without warning (unfortunately this has become necessary to mention here).
+1 I'm running Version: 4.465 and just updated and restarted my system (which I tried twice before), and I have Command-Option-` set to flip between web browsers when I'm working in them, and notetaking apps when I'm working in them -- so basically Command-Tab for specifc apps on specific Mac spaces. But since the past few versions it will work only occasionally, like maybe once or twice but the third time it won't switch apps, or it just won't work at all.
If shortcuts are not working at all it's most likely a permission issue. Try to remove BTT from System Settings => Privacy & Security => Accessibility, then add it back manually. Sometimes after macOS updates these permissions can get mixed up.
A general change in recent BTT versions is that there is no default delay when sending keyboard shortcuts. If your actions sequences relied on delays between shortcuts, you either need to add delays manually or check this option in the settings to get the old behavior:

Ah, one other note, there might have been a bug in older BTT versions where this setting had no effect. (works on keyboards with same type as used for recording). This was fixed recently, so if you used that option it might cause issues now.

thank you!
The debug data only contains key sequences, no normal keyboard shortcuts. Is that correct? I was only able to test the triple left cmd because I don't have the necessary shortcuts to try with the other ones.
Thanks for looking into this. Yes, these are key sequences. Sorry for the confusion. As you can see there are only three. None work. Although I kept turning the permissions on and off and an odd thing happened. After turning then off and then back on any of the three would work one time and one time only. None of the others would work following the first one.
The issue started again. Keyboard Shortcuts work. Key Sequences stopped working.
I quit BTT and ran the above terminal command (fixing the typo). Then I relaunched BTT.
It asked for all the permissions again, which I granted.
But it still doesn't respond to Key Sequences.
Just to chime in, I am using BTT from SetApp (also have a separate lifetime license) and I am on 14.4.1 as well, and key sequences work for me. What does not work for me is using Hyper Key through BTT: How to use Caps Lock as Hyper Key in Key Sequences?
Since upgrading my Mac to MacOS Big Sur I am unable to interact with it via the LogMeIn Client (both MacOS and iOS versions of the client are affected) as it no longer accepts mouse clicks or keyboard input. I've already tried the trick of unchecking/checking the client app in the Security/Accessibility settings app, that did not have any effect.
Another data point. When I close the control panel app then re-open it, I'm prompted to click a "get started" button in order to begin the process of registering the app with MacOS security. Problem is, when I click the button it just goes away instead of bringing up the security settings like it's supposed to. The accessibility panel shows both app listings checked as they should be but clearly they are not working and I expect the process to get them approved by Big Sur security is failing.
I own a company that relies on LogMeIn for key functions in our daily operations and to tell me that your software is not compatible and that I will have to revert my operating systems to use your software is irresponsible on your part. We pay good money to have a good working software package. Please fix this now.
We can't transfer files from Big Sur platform . Remote access works fine. Just the file transfer crashes the client and you need to restart. currently we have to go to a Windows platform or Catalina to get that functionality. This was reported over two weeks ago and I have not seen any communications as to when it will be addressed.
@Credimus I'm not sure I've heard of this being reported for Pro endpoint software behavior, but I believe we have a Mac desktop update coming soon anyway. I did hear the Mac protocols for file transfer changed slightly with the intro of Big Sur, so I'll let you know if we can reproduce and ETA on potential delivery.
While remote access should be possible on Big Sur systems, we do know of some irregularities that occur, similar though not exactly to what you're describing. I expect a new version to address these in the coming days. Thanks for your patience while we finalize testing.
? When being connected to a Windows device, we have to press on our Mac control + C and control + v when copying something on the remote device to another place on the remote device (=copying and pasting happens on the remote device).
When you, however, copy something on your Mac and want to paste it into your TeamViewer session to the Windows device, you need to press command + c followed by control + v. Kind of logical now that we know about the control key, but this is something we have to learn first.
And if you wonder how I copied/pasted on day 1, let me share my secret: I used the right-click option to copy and to paste ?... Which also worked well, but I was a bit slower than using key commands.
When working on Windows, you click the Windows key + . (the dot or period key) and the system emojis come up. On a personal note: I like those as they will appear on all OS in the native format which makes them work everywhere.
