Prahar (Attack) is a 1991 Indian Hindi-language action drama film, written and directed by Nana Patekar. The film was nominated for Best Story at the 37th Filmfare Awards. The film stars Nana Patekar, Madhuri Dixit, Dimple Kapadia, Habib Tanvir and Gautam Joglekar in the lead roles.
The film follows the story of Major Pratap Chauhan, a tough and stern soldier, trained to destroy the enemy. He is a commando instructor who trains a group of cadets, including 2nd Lt. Peter D'Souza, an idealistic and patriotic army officer who wants to join his battalion's specialist commando platoon. Peter has to face Chauhan's rigorous training and harsh attitude, but he manages to complete the course and top his class. However, during a rescue operation, he loses the use of his legs and is honourably discharged from the Army.
Peter invites Chauhan to his wedding in Mumbai, but Chauhan arrives only to find out that Peter has been killed by a gang of goons who were extorting money from the people of his area. Chauhan learns that no one is willing to testify against the killers out of fear, and decides to take matters into his own hands. He confronts the gang leader and his henchmen, and kills them in a violent fight. He then surrenders to the police and the media, and reveals his identity as a commando instructor.
