The unit takes an audio channel as input and detects musical notes. Notes are converted to MIDI and sent to any MIDI Output Device (including virtual devices for routing MIDI back to AU host), or saved as a MIDI file with a simple MIDI recorder. The spectrum window displays streaming spectrogram in real-time with recognized notes above it.Also, the plugin recognizes chords and displays chord name at the top of the spectrogram window. It is possible to control the delay of chord indication. Adjustable recognition parameters allow improving recognition quality.

Trial version allows evaluation of all plugin operating modes, but recognition process interrupts each 15 seconds and spectrogram window displays "Evaluation" message instead of the actual spectrogram during this period.

The plugin receives input from an audio channel and performs real-time music recognition. Resulting MIDI events can be sent to the VST host, system MIDI Out Device or saved as a MIDI file with a simple MIDI recorder. The spectrum window displays streaming spectrogram in real-time with recognized notes above it.Also, the plugin recognizes chords and displays chord name at the top of the spectrogram window. It is possible to control the delay of chord indication. Adjustable recognition parameters allow improving recognition quality.

Using Stage Traxx with both audio and midi. I have bought this double USB/Power connector from Amazon, and as I thought it has unstable connection. Apple only make their "camera" adapter with 1 USB/Power. If I used this to send midi I could take the audio from the headphone jack. Before I spend more money is this the way that most users work Peter? I just thought it would be neater on stage to use a double connector but its no good if unreliable. Thanks, Mel

Hi, thanks for the answer! No Bluetooth. Its 1 audio out to usb/audio interface, and 1 midi out to a usb/midi interface into an RCF M18 digital rack mixer, which also controlled by an iPad. cheers, Mel

Hi, If you check out the spec of the RCFM18, all parameters on
the mixer can be controlled by midi. Ie: Snapshot the whole mixer to bring effects on and off, also it has guitar amp simulation which you can programme and change by midi Patch change, so basically my whole show is run by that!

Melharris Ok so if you just use that usb/midi interface for sending midi from your ipad then you could get a wireless midi bluetooth adapter like the CME widi master (if the midi in on your mixer is powered, if not then you could get the widi jack). That way you could potentially do without the interface (and any camera adapter) and then take the audio from the headphone jack.
If you just use the other audio interface as an in between to connect the usb to your mixer you could also get a 3.5mm jack to 2 1/4"/2 XLR cable to get into your mixer (which is what I do) which would mean you wouldn't need that interface either. I say all this not knowing your full set up, however.

Hi, Just checked out the CME widi master and it looks great, never used bluetooth on stage before. Just asking if it has been reliable or any connection issues at a gig?? Thanks for your time!!

Melharris Absolutely. I've been gigging with using midi bluetooth between ipad and floor modeller for years and have had no issues with it. If you have any further questions you've checked it out, let me know.

Melharris No problem at all, happy to help. No I've not had any connectivity or reliability issues with sending midi via bluetooth at all (I've also used the Yamaha BT-01 in the past too). I've played some pretty crowded gigs and use 2 midi bluetooth devices on stage as well as using lighting which uses bluetooth/2.4ghz as well as two 2.4ghz wireless systems without any issue either. I am, however, now using 5.8ghz wireless as I plan on using a midi bluetooth footswitch to control stage traxx on 3 ipads (via host sessions) and our lighting so I wanted as little 2.4ghz/bluetooth up on stage as possible just in case.

Thanks for your positive help today! I have ordered the CME widi, it arrives tomorrow. I have been using midi on stage since the 1980's as a solo guitar/vox. Been using Cakewalk for tracks and midi for the past 25 years waiting for something that improves on it yet it bullet proof on stage, looks like I may have found it now. Thanks again, Mel

Melharris no worries, glad to have helped. Hope it works all ok for you. On that note, I assume the app for the mixer will allow you to connect to it ok? Or do you use ST3 to send all your midi stuff to it?

Lishy
I'm going to use another iPad which will connect to the RCFM18 mixer by wifi, then I can get to mixer volumes etc separately. Then use the ST3 iPad to send and audio and midi to the mixer. I need to have a spare iPad on stage anyway, so I thought that was the best way to work!

Hi, thanks for your input! So I'm going to end up with Midi from the iPad sent bluetooth via CME widi. Audio sent from the headphone port. Then I think I'll get an Apple Camera adapter which gives me chance to charge the iPad or use USB to midi as a backup in case of any bluetooth issues or indeed the audio out. I've been using sequencers/computers/midi on stage since 1989 and I have learned to have a backup system for everything, especially working solo!!!

I hope you are both well.
I wanted to ask your advice please as it seems like you are quite knowledgeable in what I'm trying to achieve and i'm not very clued up with Midi and sounds like you Mel are a seasoned pro at this.

I recently bought the M18 mixer.. I'm also a singing guitarist and currently i just have a Boss duel foot switch that pedal one turns off/on VOX FX and pedal 2 is for an Overdrive boost on my Guitar sim channel.

Would really appreciate any other suggestions on how to test. Mod people in particular, do you think there may be a Dwarf fault and should I raise this separately with you for attention? I am asking the same question of CME re the Widi Jack.

I found a 3.5mm TRS cable last night (the Widi cables are 2.5mm to 3.5mm of course) so looped the Dwarf serial output to the serial input. Set up a sequencer to send midi messages to the output (which we already know works from previous test) and then linked the input to the midi display.

Morning all,
Wanted to do a quick update on this.
First of all a big shout to the folks at CME. They were extremely supportive with my original problem and once I had identified the issue was with the Widi jack they immediately offered to send my a Widi USB pro to try instead.
The package arrived 3 days after sending with the USB and a replacement Widi Jack, all FOC.
Thanks CME, much love x

The replacement widi jack works just fine however the USB appears to me to be a little quicker connecting plus it is cleaner from a physical perspective as we have no more wires or magnetic clips etc to hold it in place. Just sits in the USB hub. Excellent piece of kit.

Works great. The only bummer is that the Launchkey does not operate over BT but frankly I struggled to locate anything at a reasonable cost that had a decent form factor (Korg Microkey air keys are just toooo small), controls for CCs (filter cutoff etc), and operated over BT.

I have also tried without succes to make my new Mod Dwarf work with my CME Widi Jack (with 2.5mm-3.5mm). I know that both the CME Widi Jack and the cables work fine because I use them with another stuff.

You can use Hitpoints to create MIDI events and use that to drive a sampler with your tone in it, that would be dynamic to each snare hit. I use this trick a lot to add to bass drums within live drum recording

I would like to know of any single-ended noise reduction vsts that anyone has programmed which would also be very useful in this context. Like the DBX SNR-1 or Behringer De-noiser SNR 2000 hardware units

This tutorial shows how to use the DP Meter Pro plugin (DPMP) in Cakewalk Sonar, in order to record the peak envelope of the audio signal as an automation curve. STEP BY STEP 01 - Insert the DPMP on your audio track: [Step 01 - Insert the DPMP on...

It would be a nice feature. One time I tried to do this with dual side chained compressors. I took pink noise or a square wave as input to a compressor which had the original audio as a side-chain. So it was like ducking the pink noise behind the original audio. This creates an inverse envelope. Using the inverse envelope as a side-chain input to control a second audio source passing thru a second compressor, I was able to create something like an envelope follower. The second audio was supposed to follow the envelope of the first audio.

It was a failure because the timing of the compressors was too slow and confused. In particular, the attack time has a lower limit, and that was doubled since the dual compressors were in series. The sluggish response and loose tracking I got out of this arrangement was not usable.

Having great fun with my WX5 midi wind controller. I bought this one used one month ago, but had one in past for a few years 15 years ago. Technology is much better now, Moog Model D and Model 15 are beasts and used layered here in AUM on iPad Pro M1, with various breath control and CC assignations. WX5 is wireless this time, with XTAR lithium 1.5V AAA and fantastic CME WiDI products: WIDI master plugged in WX5 midi port and WIDI Bud Pro plugged in iPad Pro, this allows for ultra low Bluetooth latency without using iPadOS BT. Neat setup, very happy. WX5 is vintage but super capable, expressive and fun if you use good synths like Model D especially.
