When flashing via dreamup you probably should activate the "recover bad flash sectors" option somewhere inside dreamup. Maybe just a bad sector inside the flash memory, should not hurt anyone once it got markes as "bad" by dreamup.
The thing is, I used to flash my dreambox 500s with DreamUP under windows XP, my question now is: Is there a way I could flash my Dreambox under Linux ubuntu with my Serial cable like I used to do with Dreamup under my windows xp?
Rename the "blabla.img" to "root.cramfs and copy via FTP to /tmp. Then start update manually via settings menu.
(Attention: When MaxVar-Image will be installed, a MaxVar-Image must already be installd on the box. If you want to install "Gemini MaxVar" when original image was installed, you have to use DREAMUP
You can use DreamUP for linux.

Under ubuntu, make a "sudo apt-get install libgdk-pixbuf2" to install the missing lib. Then make the programm +x an run it as super user (sudo).

I have problem with flashing. I use a USB cable to the service port. Dreamup v1.3.3.12 can find the box when i start to flash with dreambox-image-dm800se-20170216.nfi it says calculating checksum and nothing more happens. Even after 30 minutes. I have tryed 4 or 5 times. I tried also an older version of dreamup 1.3.3.8, same result.
Now I don,t know what to do.

As proposed I have now tryed using browser.
I get the answer" Uploading and invalid browser (or old version)". And it just stops there. It's been tryed twice.
Any proposals to get in contact with box, a new/old bootloader ?
