I know you have been interested as of late just wanted to update ya bro. So if you have not been looking around you might not know the a3977 looks like that variant has been discontinued. The a3979 is avail but pretty pricey (8-12$) each. Also the A3979 is SOOOOO small it might be hard for the DIY'ers.. so dunno.. that being said I am getting one of them and one of the
A4983. It looks pretty hot but we will see. Its pretty cheap and avail in large quantities. (3.50 ish each).

That is a very good point unless the CNC frame was above the tool head like a CNC crane then yes that would proably plug up even a optical mouse is ok for normal use but I don't roll it around in oily guck.
