I feel compelled to send a second notice because of a great opportunity tomorrow for those contemplating attending the Hubbard Hall dance.
Last night at Hubbard Hall, an absolutely wonderful play opened: Shirley Valentine by Willy Russell. It’s a one-actor show that had the audience rolling with laughter and moved to tears. Christine Decker is a dynamic actor who held the audience’s enthralled attention from start to finish. And there’s a matinee performance of Shirley Valentine tomorrow afternoon beginning at 2 p.m. So make it a soul-restoring day by attending this marvelous show, followed by a walk around Cambridge, and then our contra dance beginning at 5 p.m.
And another exciting announcement. The Hubbard Hall Tune Jam Band will make its debut at the Bennington Contra Dance on Friday, May 3. The band has been rehearsing some delightful medleys and new tunes for this evening of dancing. The dance begins at 7:30 p.m. at the One World Conservation Center. For more information on that dance, go to www.benningtondance.org
And, last but not least, Tom and I hope to see some of you at the free concert and dance tonight by the Whippersnappers and Paul Rosenberg at Burton Hall in Easton. The Whippersnappers have a unique repertoire of string band music including old world tunes, mountain music, bluegrass and Celtic jigs and reels. This lively trio of regional folk superstars offers upbeat string music with fiddles, 5-string banjo and acoustic guitar. For more info, go to http://easton.sals.edu/?p=338
Best, Fern
