Hello - Just wanted to send you a personal invite to check out the DEBUT of CONTRA-TIEMPO's new work: Brackish Waters - It is a piece with the MEN of the company - who we all love dearly! Together we explore the theme of belonging. How far are we willing to go - and compromise our individuality - in order to belong - how easy is it to become swept up in the wave of a group mentality - how much of it is posturing and how much of it is our own desire to have our lives actually mean something? How can one person be a part of something so powerful and destructive and that same person can be the wrench in the machine - the shift in the way things are going - the absolute flipping upside down of that very system....? This is the exciting beginning of a much larger work - and we would love to share with you this first chapter. Come out and support two amazing evenings of New Dance! And come support this innovative series that St. Joseph Ballet (and AMAZING community arts organization in OC) is creating in order to support courageous and innovative new artists! We hope to see you there! See an article that was written about the show and a FEATURE on CONTRA-TIEMPO and our choreographic work! CHECK IT OUT:

I will be there both nights and will actually be sitting in the audience! So I will be able to visit with you instead of being on stage! Would love to see some of you all come out and support this exciting new work!

Take care -

New Dance at Saint Joseph Ballet

For the first time ever, Saint Joseph Ballet will host four modern dance companies to participate in its annual New Dance production in February, 2008. An open call for submissions produced a tremendous response from the Southern California dance community, highlighting the importance of the project. All works presented by the hosted companies will be World Premiers. Saint Joseph Ballet's 400 students will be exposed to the various creative processes of the participating groups through master classes and other art making opportunities. New Dance aims to support and produce new work by local artists in Southern California. After careful consideration, the following four artists have been selected to participate in the production: Rebecca Pappas, Nugent Dance, casebolt and smith and CONTRA-TIEMPO
