A letter from your Charleston Folk board

Dear contra dancers,

Thanks for your support and your presence at our contra dances this year.  We have had some great dances together and look forward to many more in 2026!

We wanted to let you know that, due to rising costs in hall rentals, insurance, and paying our wonderful bands, callers, and sound techs, we are raising the admission price to $15 starting in January.  This is still a great deal for an evening out with music, exercise, and camaraderie. 

Another change we are making is setting up a volunteer network to help the board host at the front desk.  We’ll have two shifts, early (6:30-9) and late (9:30-11).  You can dance and then work, or work and then dance, and the dance portion of your evening will be free. 

Volunteer duties would include arriving early or staying later for setup or cleanup, assisting the board host with the box office as people arrive, and managing tasks as they come up.
