I was using EaseUS partition manager to extend my drive's capacity by including a 100GB partition into it.
The drive was earlier partitioned as 100GB+831Gb = 1TB(Toshiba HDD) and I was making it a single partition.
But during the process which was taking fairly long to complete, the power went off and it terminated abruptly.
Is there a way I can recover contents of the drive as they were?
I have already tried testdisk, but in vain!
The other option is to try a file recovery software but it will take weeks to sort out, with no guarantee that I will get back all my files! :(
I used easeus partition tool from windows (the gparted usb sticks I was making wouldn' boot). On my hard disk I had a nameless partition (*), an operating partition (c:), a recovery partition and several gigabytes of unallocated space.
I moved the recovery partition towards the end of the disk leaving a few gigabytes at the very end, then I enlarged the operating partition from the end of the nameless one to the beginning of the recovery one.
At reboot the screen listed three operations: the first one was to enlarge the nameless partition by a few megabytes (which I hadn't told it to), the second was enlarging the operating partition (without moving the recovery partition first), after this it immidiately output this error: "Message (-1):Unknown error. There may be some error on operating partition. Press any key to reboot!".
After finding my partition lost, I nervously went out in search of software to recover this partition, and there are tons of options but I remember EaseUS mentioned many times, so I though to try it. 2 things different about this review is that they did not approach me to review it, and the software is free, at least the version I tried. I want to mention, this was the 2nd time I did this. The first time, the partition was lost and I could not find it and I searched and all, ran through everything today and was thrilled. I was so happy and confident in the software though, I purposely deleted the partition and ran through the entire process again so that I could take screenshots and provide you with all this information. I emptied out U: and then wanted to expand Z: to fill the space. I set this running in my usual program for meddling with partitions (EaseUS Partition Master), and unfortunately it crashed part way through the process. My system still recognises the physical drive (and the fact it's meant to be Z:), however Windows can't see any partitions and won't mount it. Most of the programs that surfaced from a quick search either couldn't help or were definitely falsely reporting statistics.
