Friends:
Please join me during lunch next Tuesday, November 13 from 12:30 to 1:20 (room 133).
To mark Veterans day, I'm giving a talk on the basic legal
and cultural concepts that are important to representing veterans in
Washington--a state where one in ten residents is a veteran.
We'll cover such titillating topics as:
- what makes a person a veteran?
- how social and legal definitions of "veteran" differ?
- what best cultural practices are there to work effectively with veterans?
- how veterans present a powerful opportunity to prove the efficacy of
assistance programs that could be more broadly applied to larger
in-need populations (who may not benefit from the broad political
support currently afforded to veterans).
There will be free lunch.
This presentation captures a lot of what I've spent my time in law
school doing, and I'd love to have you guys there when I share this
information with our school.
I hope you can all make it.
