How to create a communication task

Hi,

I would like to create a communication task, but I can't get it to build
from the example contest [1].

It is also not clear to me how CMS differentiates between a batch task
and a communication task. I don't see anything in the task configuration
[2] that differentiates it from a batch task.

I was expecting the examples to build, but I do not think that is what
they are expected to do. I have filed a bug anyway [3].

Any help would be appreciated, thank you in advance.
