Doing lots of red lately for some reason. The Dahlia is a lovely, but very time intensive flower, with petal upon petal upon petal... But it's well worth all of the time involved. They always turn out so pretty. I used mainly Cadmium Red Medium & Quinacridone Red.

I wanted to take a few minutes to thank everyone for their support of my paintings and my blog over the past year. I am very blessed that people like what I do. Also, I read and appreciate every comment I receive. I sometimes don't have time to acknowledge every one, but I appreciate the time you take to write them. Thank you.

I also want to thank all of the people who have showed care and concern for Thorn. That means a lot to me. It's been a difficult year adjusting to the fact that he has DM. I can see his decline and think we are getting close to ordering the mobility cart. Thorn will have a new blog that will follow his adventures when he does get his cart. I thought that way all the people who helped us could follow his progress. Here is the link: The Adventures of Thorn.

The first painting for 2012. Working with something a little different, natural lighting. Love, love, love the window reflections in the blue vase. Love the soft cast shadows on the background. The piece has an overall softer feeling. I guess I'm embracing my softer side for the new year...:-)

This watercolor is a little larger. I love doing larger pieces. They are so dramatic. I'm hoping to do some really large (full size sheets and larger) pieces this year to enter in competitions. I miss doing that. My latest dvd Cherries & Crystal will ship next week. Thank you to all that pre-ordered. It's a very nice dvd of just painting, painting and more painting. As usual it's packed full of information and useful tips on smooth backgrounds, cherries and crystal.

All of the Cherries & Crystal dvds have been shipped. Yeah! Most will receive them this week, except international.

And, wonderful news, Thorn's cart has been ordered and will arrive next week. He is giddy with excitement. Keep updated on Thorn's progress with his cart on his blog: The Adventures of Thorn.

It's back to painting for me. We're expecting a snow storm tonight and tomorrow. So the boys and I will be huddled inside thinking about butterflies. Stay tuned...:-)
