A really fun project that I was happy to be involved in.  Spiritopia Pomegranate Liqueur.  I was asked by Spiritopia, a Premium Artisan Liqueur Distillery in Oregon, to do a painting for their latest Liqueur label.  I truly love these projects, where I can showcase my watercolors in a different format.  They were a pleasure to work for...and their Liqueurs are scrumptious!  ♥♥♥  If you're interested in purchasing the Spiritopia Pomegranate Liqueur, just go to their web site: Spiritopia.  They were even kind enough to name a drink after me, how cool is that, check out"Jacqueline Rose Cocktail".  I love this company!

This is my latest watercolor, and also, the latest video on my instructional watercolor forum,
This video is specifically designed for the beginner, step-by-step, from beginning to end.  Going through all of the important steps:

1.  How to apply masking fluid.

2.  Painting dark & dramatic backgrounds to make your Rose "Pop".

3.  Painting subtle washes on each petal so your flowers look very realistic.

4.  Painting drop shadows and cast shadows that are crisp and interesting.

5.  Adding all of those little detailed touches to make your Rose come alive.

6.  All videos come complete with photos of the drawing, reference photo & watercolor.

This is the latest commission that I was honored to do for PlantPeddler.  The Begonia itself has a spot varnish on a matte background...which really "pops" the flower.  One of the coolest projects I've done!

Here is more about PlantPeddler:
They are a progressive commercial greenhouse that specializes in young-plant (starter) production with their specialty being Begonias. They distribute to over 3000 growers across the country and Canada.  Their products are represented nationally by a broker network of 400 salesmen, and they exhibit at national and regional horticultural shows.

I am so pleased to announce that my watercolor painting, "Still life with Indian Corn" won the First Place Award in the St. Joe Valley Watercolor Society Show at the Colfax Cultural Center in South Bend, Indiana.  I am so blessed.  I want to extend thanks to the judge of the show, Steve Johnson and to the St. Joe Valley Watercolor Society for putting on a beautiful show.  The Colfax Cultural Center is a gorgeous building, and is the place where my career as a watercolor artist began.  How cool is that?

I received a call today, that I lost my friend, mentor & teacher, Scott Hendrie.  I've known Scott all of my professional career, working with him during my advertising days, and taking my very first watercolor class from him at the Elkhart Art League.  (Scott taught me everything I know about watercolor.)  Scott was a talented illustrator and skilled draftsman, who put so much love into all that he created.  His paintings and illustrations have appeared all over the United States.  Besides being an extremely talented artist, he was always there for me during all of my trials and tribulations of being an artist.  He was always smiling and laughing and a shoulder to lean on.  You could feel his joy for life in his paintings, some of which I've included below.

The world has lost a great artist and I have lost a special friend.
Love you always Scottie.

I'm honored to have these two watercolors chosen for the

at the TwoTen Fine Art Gallery in San Antonio, Texas.

The show runs from December 1 - 17.

I am blessed to have these three acrylic paintings accepted into the
"6" Squared Show"
at the Randy Higbee Gallery, in Costa Mesa, California.
Show opens December 3, 2016

As you know I am a watercolor artist to the core, but, sometimes I like to branch off into acrylics.  I use the same technique that I use for my watercolor paintings.  Thin layers of color, drying well in between.  I believe that once you know the basic technique, you can work in any medium you choose.
Hope you enjoy these!
