This watercolor of some Hollyhocks is full of sunshine. I love all of the shadows and play of light throughout the blossoms. Very happy and very Pink.

I found out today that the Blick Art Supply ad featuring my painting will be on the back cover of "Watercolor Magazine" in the spring. I am thrilled beyond belief.

I love this piece so much, and have done a similar one smaller. But sometimes I need to challenge myself and paint large and very horizontal. I love doing the white flowers with delicate shades of Cobalt. Offset by the rich greens of the leaves and stems. It's a quite striking piece. Enjoy.

that I must post the loss of my wonderful, sweet boy, Thorn...
from complications of Degenerative Myelopathy.

The house is so empty and quiet without him.

I am excited and honored to announce that my painting "Cherries & Crystal", a larger painting then the one I did for the "Cherries & Crystal Instructional Watercolor DVD", has been accepted into "Watercolor USA 2012", a national competitive exhibition sponsored by the Springfield Art Museum, Springfield, Missouri. The exhibit opens on June 9th and runs through August 5th. Stop by and see it if you're in the area this summer.

Finally completed my Strawberries & Crystal. Very time consuming. But the result is luscious... I think I used every color of red on my palette. Arches graciously sent me some of their watercolor panels to try. This is my first piece. I think I love them. They are the same surface as the paper, but it seems like the pigment handles easier. As I use them more I'll write more info, but "thumbs up" so far.

The best dvd for roses is "Painting an American Beauty", four hours of instruction.

I found out earlier this week that my painting "Cherries & Crystal" that was accepted into the Watercolor USA show has been selected for a Patron Purchase Award. (Picture in your mind Brier and I dancing around...:-)

Stretching our wings a bit...doing some different things. As I've talked about in my dvd "Fall Harvest instructional watercolor dvd", tomatos are one of the hardest to do. Unlike apples & pears there are no speckles to cover up any flaws. So I work pretty much wet-in-wet for these tomatos and even put a glaze over the highlight so that it would retain it's softness. Enjoy.
