Announcing my still life watercolor workshop for the fall.

This workshop will delve heavily in technique.  Some of the basics that you will need in any still life.  We will paint "Pears & Glass", from this photograph.  The watercolor size will be 14" x 10.5". 

This workshop will be held at Fernwood Botanical Gardens in Niles, Michigan.  October 4, 5, 6, 2018

When I do the workshops, I always do the watercolor painting in advance of the class.  So I've been working on our "Pears & Glass" still life, getting ready.  Today I did the cloth which was so much fun to do.  I've never done stripes.  So I built the structure of the cloth using lamp black, naples yellow, burnt sienna and ultramarine.  Then striped the cloth using ultramarine and lamp black.

I am also experimenting with different papers.  As some of you know, I'm getting weary of the "Brite White" of Arches being so yellow.  For this painting I'm using Fabriano Artistico 300#, cold press, bright white.  I like it.  It is a nice white, and works well with my technique.

Next it's on to the pears....stay tuned.
