We are currently working on a 3-part still life video using this photo as reference:

Reference Photo
The first video is, that I just finished, works on painting the dark and dramatic background.  We wanted the background to really accent the still life itself.  Then we went on do detailed work on this very colorful cloth.  You'll learn first, how to do the structure of the cloth, then adding on all of the beautiful colors to make it look very realistic.  Now that the stage is set, we'll advance to the next videos.

This is the final call for my Dahlia watercolor workshop at Fernwood Botanical Gardens and Nature Center in Niles, Michigan.  We still have a couple more openings.  The workshop is next week, May 3, 4, & 5.  It's a great chance to paint with fellow watercolor artists and enjoy the acres of magical gardens at Fernwood.  You have the option of bringing a sack lunch or joining other artists for lunch in the Fernwood Cafe.
