You can register the V-Ray Standalone application as a Windows service so that it runs automatically on Windows boot from C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\Maya nnnn for x64\maya_vray\bin\vraymayaspawnernnnn. V-Ray Standalone can now be used as a render server for Distributed Rendering, Network Rendering and rendering with IPR.
You can use V-Ray Standalone render servers for distributed rendering, where a single frame is simultaneously calculated across many machines. Before you can use distributed rendering, you have to start the V-Ray Standalone application in render server mode on the machines that you wish to use. To do that, open the application from C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\Maya nnnn for x64\maya_vray\bin\vray

- Download our Sample scene for Vray and 3DSMax here
vray-material.de sample scene - Load the scene and apply your material to the sample object.
- Adjust the material if necessary (for lighting and stuff)
- Render the image with the preset settings.
- Save your render with a suitable name that represents your material (e.g. dark grey concrete, fine red leather, brushed steel)
- Save your material as a single library, give it the same name
- OR save the max file using the same name

@Thomas Just an update uninstalled all elements (vray & skatter) cleaned all folders reinstalled fresh - on switching teapot in the Composition Manager causes a splat with 2.1.6. when the file is saved with settings it causes splat on opening, This is just a file with one plane and tall grass from 3d Bazaar
