Hey CI Philly,

Thanks to all who helped us kick-off June with a bang at our fantastic weekend workshop with Cintha Perez Navarro! <3
Now let's take what we learned and dive into the practice!
This week Netta Sadovsky will be leading our Thursday class and later in the month Tamar Gutherz will be teaching again.
Check out the rest of our June offerings below....

This Week:

Thursday 6/11CI Class with Netta Sadovsky, 7-9pm, Headlong/Mascher Space
  • $10-25 sliding scale ($15 suggested), cash or Venmo. Pre-registration not required.
  • Studio is located at 1170 S. Broad St. Please ring the "Rear Studio" buzzer to be let into the building!
Leading and Following Games in CI. In this class we’ll play games with leading and following and the gradients in between. What is it like to listen for the body's leadership, vs its followership? In a solo dance? With one other mover? With several? How does this change when you are led by different areas of your body? By the sounds in the room? By mood? By the mysterious onset of instinct? By touch? We'll end class with a jam. All levels of experience are welcome.

Netta Sadovsky lives in Philly and works as a therapist with a focus on group process. Netta first learned Contact Improv from David Marchant in 2013, and has since studied with many wonderful guides including Jungwoong Kim, Merián Soto, Lilliane Kane, Nuria Bowart, Anne Cooper Albright, and others at Earthdance and the Field Center. Netta approaches Contact Improv as a creative encounter with the body's shifting impulses towards the other. She is interested in how dancing those instincts hones our integrity in embodied relating. Outside of dance, Netta studies relationship as contemplative practice through Circling, Tavistock Group Relations, Internal Family Systems, and psychodynamic group work. In addition to her work as a therapist, Netta serves as Assistant Director of The Deep Play Institute, where she leads workshops, intensives, and retreats playing between the arts, experiential therapies, and spiritual practice

Sunday 6/14CI Jam, 5-7pm, Headlong/Mascher Space
  • Facilitated by Loren Groenendaal and Miryam Coppersmith
  • $10-25 sliding scale ($15 suggested), cash or Venmo. Pre-registration not required.
  • Studio is located at 1170 S. Broad St. Please ring the "Rear Studio" buzzer to be let into the building!

Other June CI Events:
  • The Global Underscore will be hosted by Loren Groenendaal on Saturday June 20th, 10am-2pm at Headlong/Mascher Space. This is a very fun and rewarding focused jam which has a bit more structure than a regular jam. The Global Underscore is when people all over the world do the underscore at exactly the same time. If you have not participated in an Underscore before it usually requires a talk through to understand the structure ahead of time. For more information and to register please contact lorengro...@gmail.com

Current Masking Policy: We are currently in communication with some covid cautious groups to offer a CI Fundamentals class once a month for those who require masking. Masked events will require all participants to wear a mask that is KN94 grade or higher (KN95) while dancing, including the teacher. Everyone is welcome to join those classes. We will have KN94 masks available at the studio for those who need to borrow. Let us know if you want more information about these classes.
