Class will offer a thorough warm up that will ready the participants to dance fully. We will explore concepts of improvisation through the lens of maker and performer, focusing on world building and responding. Scores will be introduced to expand conceptual ideas of ensemble dancing while collaborating in time and space.
Curt is a choreographer and improviser living and working on unceded Lenape land in South Philly. An expat Californian, he danced in New York City for twenty years before moving to Philadelphia in 2009. Curt performed with David Dorfman Dance from 1990 to 2002, has taught and set work as a guest artist throughout the United States, Europe, South America and Asia, and was a professor at Uarts from 2002-24. He produces work with his pickup company and is currently designing evenings of spontaneous music and dance in collaboration with Loren Groenendaal and the revolving Free Fleet artist group.
