CI Events: Last week of June

Hey CI Philly,

Tamar Gutherz will be teaching another CI Lab/Class this Thursday and a CI Jam is coming up this weekend!

In July, Netta Sadovsky will be back to teach two more classes. :)

Unfortunately, our facilitator team has less capacity this summer, so we have not been able to pull off a masked event in June. Plans are in flux for the rest of the summer and we will keep you posted.

This Week:

Thursday 6/25: CI Lab/Class with Tamar Gutherz, 7-9pm, Headlong/Mascher Space

• $10-25 sliding scale ($15 suggested), cash or Venmo. Pre-registration not required.
• Studio is located at 1170 S. Broad St. Please ring the "Rear Studio" buzzer to be let into the building! 

Tamar Gutherz is originally from Lynchburg, VA and has a BFA in Modern Dance Performance from University of the Arts.  She currently teaches Gyrokinesis, Modern Dance and Contact Improvisation and works as a freelance performance artist in the Philadelphia area. 

Contact Lab/Class: In these 2 hr sessions we will re-visit some familiar Contact Improv exercises through different lenses.  I will facilitate a warm up and propose some exercises, and we will collectively decide which direction the class takes based on questions which come up from our practice.  We’ll zoom in on muscle tone, weight distribution, and the possibilities that come from using centrifugal force— falling, spiraling, leaning into and pushing away from the floor.  Exploring the vast range between passivity and activity in our dancing, we’ll practice being efficient with our energy.  The last portion of class will be reserved for open jamming and processing.

Sunday 6/28: CI Jam, 4-6 pm, Headlong/Mascher Space

CI Philly June Events:

Current Masking Policy: We are currently in communication with some covid cautious groups to offer a CI Fundamentals class once a month for those who require masking. Masked events will require all participants to wear a mask that is KN94 grade or higher (KN95) while dancing, including the teacher. Everyone is welcome to join those classes. We will have KN94 masks available at the studio for those who need to borrow. Let us know if you want more information about these classes.
