Join CI Philly for a two-day immersion into the fundamental skills, tools, and practices of Contact Improvisation. Newcomers will learn the foundations of CI, while experienced practitioners will deepen their rigor, fluency, and refine their choice-making.

We will cultivate an environment of trust, care, and adaptability where we can safely co-create, take risks, and embrace the immediate unknown. Through embodied solos, duets & ensembles, puzzles, scores, and composition, we will awaken our reflexes and readiness, and fine-tune our proprioception. As we roll, fall, share weight, and negotiate momentum, we will find pathways of ease in unpredictable moments.

Our time together will include reflection, harvesting, and sharing.

The main objectives of this workshop are:

• Navigating safety, boundaries and consent

• Understanding the foundation and fundamentals of Contact Improvisation from an embodied and somatic approach

• Initiating dances from a place of listening, with attention on ease, care and awareness

• Discovering what play, pause, touch and observation can bring to your practice
