Mechanics and Sensation: CI Basics Class

with Loren Groenendaal @ Headlong Studios

Mask Required

Thursday February 13th from 6:30-8:30pm

$10-25 sliding scale cash or venmo at the door

Mechanics and Sensation Class Description:

This class will focus on fundamentals of Contact Improvisation, mechanics and sensation. We will tune into sensation- sensing our selves, our place in space, our relationship to others. We will work on feeling gravity and our relationship to our planet earth that informs our dancing. With that atunement we will have the foundation to build relationships of bodies in space with an earthly amount of gravity. We will work on/play with mechanical skills and qualitiative principles for connection- rolling, sliding, levering, getting under or over, moving in and out of relationship, being spongey, responding to sensation. This class is designed for beginners, but accepts dancers of all levels. Bring your questions, worries, wonderments. There is space to ask questions and potentially even get solutions!
