Welcome to the group for information sharing and conversation about global meetups related to the Contact Summit. I"ve just posted a welcome message for this Google Group, which summarizes what it's for: "This is a group for organizers of global remote meetups related to the
Contact Summit, which is in NYC on October 20. We hope the conversations
here and elsewhere will build connections between forward-looking
social projects and ventures, ultimately forming a network, even a
movement."
I volunteered to be a resource and support for organizers of the remote meetups, because Doug and Venessa and other conference organizers have their hands full with the NYC event. One of my goals is to facilitate creation of a network that can tie projects and energies together beyond the October event. However that assumes that's what we'll all want, and we'll only know whether we have the makings of network or a movement if we get connected and talk about it.
This list is primarily for people who are organizing meetups, and between now and October, we'll focus on the logistics of organization and information sharing about events and projects. We can help each other out if we get "stuck" on anything.
We should start with introductions. I'm Jon Lebkowsky, and I've been involved with online and offline communities and events since the 1980s. I'm here because I have a lot of relevant experience. You can find more about me at my website at
http://weblogsky.com or at Wikipedia at

Please introduce yourselves and say something about the meetup you're organizing.
best,
Jon Lebkowsky
