workstation restarts, due to windows operating system update, environment power condition, etc, and once everything restarts, hamachi is in the "powered off" condition. Then we are screwed, because there is no remote access, and now a human being has to make a physical trip to the workstation to click on "power on".
So, I've figured out a way to deal with this. I wrote a windows service that monitors the logmein service and it's power on status. If either get turned off my service restarts them. So far has been working very well and ended the random shutdowns that can happen.
For some reason on a new computer that I installed Hamachi on, it seems to randomly decide not to auto-connect (aka "Power" on) and it would be offline, requiring me to press the power button on its UI. Other times it would auto-connect just fine. Apparently this is controlled via a config file some place but the fact that it isn't being consistent was something I found odd. So what I did was create a task run in Task Scheduler to execute that previous command (hamachi-2 --cli logon) set to run "At Startup", set it to run with Administrative privileges whether a user is logged in or not, and set a Condition for it to run after getting a Network Connection with the device that provides internet access. This way Hamachi is already connected to the VPN before anyone logs on (assuming the person doesn't log in fast enough to get ahead of it). From now on I won't have to deal with the randomness of it not auto-connecting or worry about its configuration set to do so.
Basically the service I wrote polls that file every so often, if it finds the state powered off, it stops the service, changes that line, and then restarts the service. It also checks to make sure the service is running and also starts it up if the service is stopped. I also keep the hamachi in "do not self update" mode...
I created a batch file that turns on hamachi and enables a network on startup. To get it to run subtletly on startup I created a shortcut to the file and changed the properties so it starts minimized.
Hi.
I have a weird problem with ssh connection through logmein-hamachi. Everything seems to be fine, but I can't connect to one host in my private network.
There are 3 hosts in my hamachi network, each one is in different location. On my laptop (let say HOST.A) I have installed hamachi in latest version from AUR (ver. 2.1.0.86). The same version is installed on HOST.B.
There is also third host (HOST.C) which is located in other country and there is hamachi ver. 2.1.0.17 on this host. Arch on HOST.C wasn't updated for a while, so hamachi is starting there by entry in /etc/rc.conf. There is a fresh install of Arch on HOST.A (my laptop) and HOST.B.
I can connect by ssh to HOST.C, there is no problem with this. Also I can connect from HOST.C to my host. Problem is, that I can't connect to HOST.B from other hosts in my hamachi network and also HOST.B can't connect to them.
All hosts are visible in hamachi network. There is no blocked traffic because there is no configured firewall on any host.
I don't get ping responses from HOST.B. When I try to connect by ssh I get 'Connection timed out'.
There is also no response when I try to check HOST.B by telnet.
I briefly inspected the action Hamachi is doing. From what I found there, the Hamachi service (named Hamachi2SVC, running hamachi-2.exe) seemed to actively detect the Windows logoffs and ask their server what to do; in OP's case, the server instructs the client to disconnect.
To take around this mechanism, a way is to patch the program not to check for the logoffs. For Hamachi version 2.3.0.78, changing byte 0x10122E 0x85 to 0x31 (instruction test to xor) in C:\Program Files (x86)\LogMeIn Hamachi\x64\hamachi-2.exe works as expected, though not sure about other versions.
Hamachi version 2.1.0.174 doesn't work because it's not compatible with the newer glibc version 2.26, which is included in Ubuntu 17.10. The hamachi daemon will crash the moment you try to login with the following error:
I am not very good with ubuntu, and can't figure out why it won't connect I've tried restarting the services with the command sudo service logmein-hamachi start && haguichi, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and nothing. It worked at one point for like a day.
It seemed like the restart using "sudo /etc/init.d/logmein-hamachi restart" was successful as it states "starting - success" at the end... The message is "hamachid: no process found" is just from stopping the old process, which isn't there as expected.
One more thing, every time I restart the computer and log in, a window pops up saying "Sorry, Ubuntu 16.04 has experienced an internal error." I click show details, and it says that the executable path is /opt/logmein-hamachi/bin/hamachid. It says that the problem type is a crash, and the there's a category labeled Title that says "hamachid crashed with SIGSEGV in_IO_vfscanf_internal()" Hopefully this helps in some way.
Thanks. Seems that the service was not started successfully or that the daemon had already crashed. You can try digging into the hamachi log file (/var/lib/logmein-hamachi/h2-engine.log) to see if there are any clues for the reason why.
Otherwise you can reinstall hamachi and hope that this will fix the problem (it does execute some extra triggers that might help):
sudo apt install --reinstall /Downloads/logmein-hamachi_2.1.0.174-1_amd64.deb
Googling for the errors in your log I found a forum post which describes the exact same problem. The solution seems to be to (re)enable IPv6 on your system:

I'm trying to install hamachi on my Raspberry Pi. I had it installed previously but had to wipe the card after a failed update so here I am again. Every time I run the install script it fails. See below. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hamachi is used or set up VPN and connect systems over a VPN network. This provides a quick and easier way to create a VPN network and attach a system. You can create a free account on logmein.com and create networks. You can add up to 5 systems in each network with a free account. To add more than 5 systems is required to upgrade the network to the paid version.
For this tutorial, I have already created a hamachi network from its web interface and get a network id and connected a windows system with this network. This tutorial will help you set up the LogMeIn VPN network and add Linux machines to this network. Also, attach a Windows system to communicate with each host over VPN.
Visit LogMeIn official download webpage to download the latest LogMeIn-hamachi packages for your Ubuntu, Debian, Redhat, Fedora, Rocky Linux, Alma Linux or Windows systems. You may also use the below commands to install the LogMeIn hamachi client on your system.
You can also create the network using the command line. But I prefer to log in to the LogMeIn hamachi dashboard and create a Network under Networks >> My Networks section. For security, purpose assigns a password for your network. On creation of the network, you will get a network id. Use this network id and password to attach remote systems to this network.
Important that users understand that Hamachi does not work with CentOS5 using RHEL6 because the latest version of GCLIB is sub 3X and this program requires 3.4.15. Installing this into CentOS5.X is done so at the users risk because you have to push GCLIB to an unsupported version that is at your peril. So basically if you see this GCLIB then forget touching hamachi and maybe go with openvpn instead.
PS. Hamachi is currently in beta testing for android and IOS. To setup the mobile device you must use their preview site, then click add client. There will now be an option for adding a mobile device (this option is not shown if you access through they standard hamachi login).
Hamachi is configured in /var/lib/logmein-hamachi/h2-engine-override.cfg (create that file if it does not exist).Unfortunately, it is not easy to find a comprehensive list of possible configuration options, so here are a few that you can use.
If you don"t pay for a static IP address, or find yourself behind firewalls that you can"t control, this method will allow you to access SSH on your Raspberry Pi by installing client-side software to connect to a logmein hamachi network.
First, create a logmein.com account if you haven't already, and from there, create a network.
If you want to add a smartphone or a mobile device to your network you have to use this link:
(here you can also use the actual beta-versions)
Next step is creating the network.
That's it. Now connect to your beaglebone/raspberry.
Hi... in Raspbian bullseye, the hamachi is broken...
Im getting the error:
/etc/init.d/logmein-hamachi: 46: /opt/logmein-hamachi/bin/hamachid: not found
but the file hamachid exists in that directory...
some idea about to fix it?
The address for download logmein hamachi has changed:
" sudo wget -hamachi_2.1.0.203-1_armhf.deb "
however I can't get this to install on a raspberry pi because it is arm64 :(
you can find a list of all the Hamachi for linux builds here:
Right, last version can be found here:
-hamachi_2.1...
All the other installation's steps rans perfectly without trouble, and as suggested the file "/etc/rc.local" must be edited to perform the autologin.
