The Korean Cultural Center is a little piece of Asia in Paris, a place where we can discover a far-off and fascinating culture, far from clichs. So when the cultural center offers to take us on a journey for a night, with a multimedia exhibition, we go for it!

This exhibition will be on display free of charge on Saturday June 1, 2024, for the 23rd Nuit Blanche. During this exceptional nocturne, the Korean cultural center welcomes us all to take part in some unique events.

Does Nuit Blanche sound familiar? This cultural event is the brainchild of the City of Paris: since 2002, it has been showcasing contemporary creativity during a unique and unusual night. More than 200 artistic events are scattered across the capital and the cities of the Greater Paris metropolitan area. These free events allow us to enjoy all forms of contemporary art, from the most conventional to the most zany.

"Harlem Nocturne" is a jazz standard written by Earle Hagen (music) and Dick Rogers (lyrics) in 1939 for the Ray Noble orchestra, of which they were members.[1] The song was chosen by the big-band leader Randy Brooks the next year as his theme song.[2]

Some singers have recorded "Harlem Nocturne", adding lyrics. Mel Torm recorded a version with lyrics for his 1963 album Sings "Sunday In New York" And Other Songs About New York, beginning with "a nocturne for the blues". Sylvia Brooks recorded a different version, arranged by Jeff Colella, on her album Dangerous Liaisons in 2009,[8] starting with "deep music fills the night", which has since been covered. Other vocal versions are by Ernestine Anderson, Carla White, Denise Jannah, Bonnie Bramlett, and Jacintha. Brian Setzer does a version loosely based on the theme called "Hollywood Nocturne".

Mama stops washing the shredded daikon and takes the karaoke remote from on top of the raised partition dividing her side of the bar from theirs. But then, seeing that Kondo is just holding the microphone without actually attempting to sing any Imawano, she gets on with her next task, taking some leftover ginger root from the fridge behind her and grating it.

She turns the mirrorball on and sets it to colour mode. Listening to the gentle intro, she sets a grill over the hob, takes a pack of smelt from the fridge and starts to cook a couple of them. Kondo sings:

He usually uploads "I tried to sing" videos but sometimes he also does something else to make his singing videos more interesting such as going to karaoke. He has a bit of a husky voice and slightly hollow.
