I am running Mathcad 15 student edition on a Windows XP PC. I will be selling this PC in Canada, moving to England, buying a new PC which will run Windows 7 and installing Mathcad on the new PC. What are the steps I need to take to transfer the Mathcad license?
At the link you provided there are 5 options. The Check your Account Level seemed to be the most relavent. I clicked on it, logged in and found a place to leave a message for the "License Webmaster" and left a message there. Was this the right thing to do?
To transfer the license to another computer you need to use the option "Reconfigure Software Licenses" (move Service Contract Numbers (SCN) to different machines, consolidate licenses to single server from triad or break triad into single server):
I have Prime 6 on my old PC and want to transfer the licence. I am quite happy with Prime 6 as my use of this software is limited. To upgrade to Prime 7 will be a waste of money as I do not use it often other than established calculations that will not change.
I have obtained licence files through the self-serve tools, but when I try to use them, I get a message stating that the server is unavailable or down. Because I do not have an active support account, the PTC support team is inaccessible to me.
Please verify the host id mentioned in the license file matches with the system physical address on which your workstation is active on. You can open command prompt and use net config rdr to check the host ID
When you open service manager in that list one service would be for PTC flexnet license server. The default name if lmadmin if you are unable to locate that look for Flexnet license server for PTC or check if any other name was given while creating the service. Once you find out the service you just need to restart that particular service.
You can try to reconfigure the license server. Browse to the installation location default location is C:\Program Files\PTC\FLEXnet Admin License Server\bin and run reconfigure.exe. Browse to the license file and see if the status shown is available.
I then entered my SO# clicked on the "install licensing" button. After a couple of minute, I got a "success!" indication but the process seemed to hang and would not progress to the "finish" state (ss2).I also got another licence file sent to me, also attached.
Once you run reconfigure.exe remove the existing entry "7788@feynman" using - sign. Drag and drop the latest license file you attached to the previous comment under source column. Let me know the status once you perform these steps.
I did as you suggested, and application appears to accept the licence file, displays the message "installing licence server ..", and then appears to hang. Does it take more than several minutes for the process to complete?
Been having to dust up on my structural engineering skills lately in designing a couple of retaining walls back in 2003 I use to use Mathcad 2000 to do my structural calculations as you could type and calculate at the same time and layout your engineering calculation as you would traditionally by hand.
However having moved company since then I no longer have access to Mathcad licence. A quick Google search turned up Smath a Freeware alternative to Mathcad. Smath is very similar to Mathcad and easy to pickup. The drawing draw leaves something to be desired but I have Civil3d for that.

Hi,
When I compile using version V5.06 update 6 (build 750) I do not haveany problems. Everything works very well.
With version 5.24a of uVision, I could compile perfectly withARMCLANG, and when I upgraded to version 5.25, I could also compilewith ARMCLAND V6.9.
But from one day to the next, I could not compile more, it gives melicense errors, and I should not have them.
For now I am working with version 5.06 of the compiler, but I want touse version 6.9 that has more benefits for me.
>>What I do not understand is why it appears in the licensefile, the address of the PTC Mathcad Prime 4.0 license file.
Because you have that installed? And the generic LM_LICENSE_FILEpoints to it?
I have been dealing with exactly the same issue via the ArmSupport team in Germany. Apparently "This is known issue withARMCLANG and latest windows 10 update 1803" however I cannot find anyreference to the problem on teir website.
To implement this fix, they provided me with a PSN which allowedme to generate a licence.dat file using the licence generator ontheir website. Then I had to download the FlexNet license server andinstall it on the same PC that I was running the uVision MDK.
Thank you so much, then, we can close this thread. I have optedfor a virtual machine with Windows 7, since there I use Xilinx ISE,so I take the opportunity to use uVision with the V6 compiler. Manythanks.
NOTE: For complete information about managing Mathcad licenses, see the fullMathcad license guide HERE.
For license installation you will first need to acquire the full version of Mathcad from CADDIT. If you have not specified a licence key due to having a licensing file or that you are running the trial, before you click finish, ensure that the box is ticked for run the licence setup to acquire or specify a licence.
NOTE: In case you have either hastily clicked finish without ticking this box or that in a later stage you need to update your licence details, you can access the file via going to the MathCAD directory > MathCAD14 > MCLicence and the start the MCLicence.exe located there to start the licensing program.
Generally you only need to specify the new license file, leave the port setting as it is.
NOTE: A typical installation can configure a new nodelock license file from the Windows command line:
\mathcad.exe /license where path=installation location of Mathcad, i.e.
"C:\Program Files\Mathcad\Mathcad 14\mathcad.exe" /license
Alternatively this can be found manually by going to the location of where Mathcad is installed: Mathcad> Mathcad 14> MCLicense> MC License Application.
MathCAD version 14.0 will not be able to start-up unless you complete the licensing step properly, either through the installation process via the product key given or that by accessing via trial or product file key. The following Window should open to start the process as shown here:
