CONSUMER RIGHTS- AN INITIATIVE

Hi,

I am sending this mail to you to inform you and invite you about a
very relevant issue of our times-Consumer Rights. We are all consumers
almost every day, be it buying goods or services, dealing with
institutions like banks, mobile companies, loans, auto companies and
the like. And often we have to pay up though not fully satisfied with
the services or products delivered. This is where your knowledge of
Consumer Rights comes into play. I have started A yahoo group called
Adhikaar with precisely this aim.

Adhikaar has been started with an aim to provide a forum to discuss
various consumer affairs related issues and with mutual help provide
guidance to affected people.
Though India has the strongest possible law with regards to Consumer
Protection, the same is not known to most consumers who are regularly
being fleeced by the traders, MNCs, Banks and various other agencies.
The scope of the law is immense and most activities are covered by it.
The need is to educate the consumers. This group will examine and
discuss issues pertaining to consumer rights in India. The basic
premise is that the consumers get a raw deal from service providers
and this forum will allow you to voice your concerns so that other
like-minded people can share their wisdom and knowledge.The group will
strive to achieve the objective.

The moderators have studied the law in great detail and will share
their experience with all members.The members are expected to
contribute by way of sharing their experiences and post any articles
of use in this regard. Members facing difficulty will be issued with
necessary advice by all members.
