problem: I made a reservation this afternoon at 2:00 PM, flight/rental car
to Chicago from Tampa ($483.75), even bought the useless insurance in case
I had to cancel.  This evening (same day) I found out I have to care for my
invalid mother and will be unable to make the trip.  I called Priceline and
pleaded my case.  Guess what?  They claim it is 'their policy' to keep my
money and I cannot cancel the trip.  This is like me saying 'If you walk
into my store with a red hat, it is OUR POLICY, that you must pay me
$1,000'.  So, you walk into my store with a red hat, I say 'It is our
policy that you must pay me $1,000 if you enter with a red hat'.  As
ridiculous as this may sound, this is basically the legal framework on
which Priceline has based their business. They have provided me NO service,
NO product, they have not 'performed' in any manner of speaking, but claim
it is 'their policy' to keep my $483.75.  I was then transferred to the
insurance policy department and the guy there was so absurdly rigid and
uncompromising, because my mother is not 'hospitalized' or on 'her death
bed', or under 'direct doctors care'; they will not refund my $483.75.
Back to Priceline I went.  Same deal.  Sucks to be me.  It is 'their
policy' to illegally and unconstitutionally keep my $483.75 which they have
NOT earned in any manner of speaking.  It's the same freaking day I made the
reservation for crying out loud.  Corporate America is gaming us.  I shall
not be defeated.  I will now fight the fight to my dying day, dispute the
charges on my credit card, and notify every so-called executive at
Priceline.  In a court of law, I doubt their 'policy' or their 'contract'
could meet judicial rules and standards.  In contract law, both parties
must 'perform'.  In Priceline's case with me, they have not performed, I
have cost them ZERO dollars, my 'reservation' sitting on some computer
system collecting dust.  I hope they get byte rot.
