Hi Team,
I went to a very interesting little meeting this morning for the International Trade Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce here in Guadalajara.
AmCham membership is 9000 pesos (about $700) per year, but it would get me access to all of these members (there are many in the ag sector) as well as all of their events:
http://www.amcham.org.mx/guadalajara/Alimentos-y-BebidasAgricultura I'm not entirely sure it's worth it at this stage, but I'm going to meet with one of the AmCham program officers to learn more about different options, why a consultant would be interested in participating, etc.
At the event this morning there was a small group of ~20 people from multiple industries (mostly transportation and logistics) but I was able to connect with 3 folks from
Verde Valle, which is a very large processor of rice and beans and a few other goods. I'm going to follow up with them to at least simply have an informational-type conversation. I'm curious what the food safety needs are of a large food corporation that is
already exporting to the US and Central/South American countries.
Also, but not at this particular event, I met one of the owners of Tomatoes 630, which is a medium sized producer, transporter, and exporter (it's very interesting that they're quite vertically integrated) of tomatoes from the Mexico to the US. They sell a lot of their product in Mexico as well, and unfortunately don't have a website I can send you. Again, I'm looking forward to talking more with the owner Jose to learn more about what a rather sophisticated operation may need in terms of consulting services.
That's the update! Thanks y'all!
Have a great weekend :)
Sarah
