Hi Art and Michael,

I finally signed my contract with CapLog on Thursday and we're beginning the 6 month China-Mexico project this week! I'll be devoting about 15-20 hours a week to them for the next 6 months, so I still have plenty of time to build CV of course.

CapLog is also still seeking a research associate to support this project in China. Do you happen to know anyone in Hong Kong (or possibly Beijing) who could fulfill this role? Or do you know someone who has contacts or connections in China/Hong Kong to whom you could forward this job description?

Thanks so much!
Sarah

Seeking Market Research Associate – Hong Kong

The CapLog Group is seeking a research associate to assist with an on-the-ground market and restaurant survey of seafood products in Hong Kong for use in a larger publication on Chinese demand for Mexican seafood. The research associate will be responsible for identifying key seafood markets and popular seafood restaurants, designing interview questions, conducting informal interviews, recording price data from site visits and writing up their findings. The associate will also be responsible for gathering seafood price, consumption and trade data from on and offline data sources. The associate will work closely with the Managing Director.

The associate should hold a Bachelor's (and preferably Masters) degree, be bilingual in Cantonese and English, have strong interpersonal and writing skills, be comfortable with working independently and be proficient in Excel. Successful candidate will have a background in macroeconomic, market or trade research, or environmental economics and policy.

CapLog is requesting CVs and proposals from interested and qualified candidates.

Timeframe: October – December, part-time.

Hi Sarah,

That's fantastic! Congratulations! I don't know of anyone who would fit the bill re. the HK position, but I'll keep thinking about it.

Also, that picture of the cat in the bowl on Facebook! I snorted. So fantastic. He just fits in there - except his tail, which does not. Instead, it sticks out like an orchid from a vase.
