Hola Chicos,
I just got off the phone with Fernando Salas, the Executive Director of an organization based in Lima called SADE Group:
http://www.sadegroup.org
While it doesn't appear this way on their website, nearly 100% of their focus is on developing agribusinesses in Lima, who can then export their products to the US, EU, etc. They have a value chain approach…they place an important focus on certifications and understanding/monitoring the entire supply chain…basically there's a lot of compatibility between their work and ours.
In sum: there may be some great ways to partner on projects in the future. They could use our food safety expertise, but also may need us for broader value chain projects.
Fernando asked that I send him a description of our approach, services, and experience, so that he can share this information with the rest of his team and they can discuss options. They are currently working with a business to export organic ginger into the US, but are interested in expanding into other Peruvian products…oregano, citrus, etc.
We already have a brief description of our services as well as our bios from our Invalsa proposal. Do you mind if I take a shot at deepening/expanding the description of our approach? We can discuss/review/revise the contents before I translate them to Spanish.
I'd like to send him the materials by the end of this week (to make it seem that all I have to do is translate, and not actually DEVELOP the thing :P)…I think it's doable. What do you say?
We can talk more about this opportunity tomorrow. Until soon!
Cheers,
Sarah
