Might be a dumb question, but I can't find the syntax for how to construct a DNS query from a prepared query.

<name>.queries.consul?

Hi David,

It's covered in here - https://www.consul.io/docs/agent/dns.html down in "Prepared Query Lookups". The short version is:

<query or name>.query[.datacenter].<domain>

So you can use the query's ID and do <id>.query.consul or if you set a friendly name for the query you can do <name>.query.counsul.
