Long Term Contract
Richmond, VA

Our client is looking for a Hadoop Developer to join one of our Fortune 50
Health Insurance clients located in Richmond, VA. As a Hadoop Developer, you
will be responsible for participating and supporting all phases of the design
and development life cycle of analytic applications and tools, utilizing various
Big Data/ Hadoop technology platforms.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Design, develop and implement solutions to meet varying business needs in enterprise data solutions and analytics.
* Develop code and unit test to ensure it meets business needs as well as quality standards.
* Develops and defines application scope and objectives, including impact to interfaces
* Hands-on experience in application development leveraging Java/Hive/Impala/Spark/Sqoop/Hadoop technologies
* Hands-on experience in DevOps
* Hands-on experience in DW/ETL development
* Maintains active relationships with customers to determine business requirements, leads requirement meetings
* Proactively addresses customer issues, prepares alternatives and implements solutions complex change request and reviews and evaluates possible enhancements
* Identifies and manages risks and develops contingency plans
* Partners with business, architecture and infrastructure and oversees all service levels
* Analyzes and evaluates detailed business and technical requirements

* Analyzes and evaluates detailed business and technical requirements
* 4+ years hands on application development experience with Hadoop ecosystem and related technologies (Cloudera, Hive, Impala, Pig, Java etc.)
* Excellent understanding of Hadoop architecture, and tools within the Hadoop ecosystem such as Hive, SQOOP, Spark, Flume, PIG, Map/Reduce, HBase, and Solr.
* Hands on experience with large scale MPP data warehousing/data integration is preferred (Teradata, Netezza, Informatica, etc.)
* Strong background in development, specifically Java.
* General systems operational expertise, including understanding of systems' capacity, bottlenecks, memory, CPU, OS, storage, and networking
* Skills in diagnosing and solving complex problems and providing detailed technical analysis.
* Understanding of SQL in accessing and manipulating data.
* Experience with full SDLC is a must
* Experience in Agile is a preference.
