I URGENTLY need help with a query about Neem wood in Bangalore for
door and window frames.

How good is it? I heard not very strong but mine is RCC pillar
construction. and door frames dont take that kind of load right?

I heard neem also has long life and is termite resistant.

Please help with any info tips , suggestions and warnings.

I need to decide at the earliest.

Thanks in advance

It would really help me make a decision if someone who has already
used this wood for frames responds to this query with their experience
or knowledge.

yes, neem makes it termite resistant. We decided to use neem instead
of honne since honne releases yellow color when it gets wet. Neem is
very cheap compared to matti/honne.

i think the lintel or concrete is the load bearing one and so it is ok
(we used neem only for doors and not for frames)

Hi
Neem is one good alternative for honne, matti.
*Chemical properties are much stronger compared to other two.
*One should understand certain physical properties of wood
*Teak is the best in strength and look. You feel the grains in a very
rhythmic way.
*Neem is bit soft and had little fiber. You don’t get the finishes
like in teak.
*polish a teak, honne, paduk, neem wood you can make out difference
easily
*If you are going for very contemporary design (no carvings in the
edges) neem is preferred. Its not for finishes can be used in a very
rustic way.
*Neem should be seasoned more days than other wood as the moisture
content is more.

Hi,
Please do not use neem for doors and frames. It is not strong and
durable.
