Hello All,

I wanted to get an idea about the cost involved for False ceiling and
crown moulding using plaster of paris.

How is this charged? Is it based on square feet or running feet for
crown moulding and how about for False ceiling?
Is it good to have false ceiling? what about maintenance and if any
issues with speakers or wiring how do we go about it?

What are the prevailing rates for this crown moulding and False
ceiling for a 1500 sq ft area? Any other things that need to be
considered before we do this work.

Thanks for the help

Hi raja
Are you talking about cornice at the junction of slab and the walls or
the ornamental flower patterns done at the chandler?
In case it is cornice it will be charged in rft and the false ceiling
there are two types of it.
1. Pop sheets
2. Gypsum sheets
1. In pop if the worker is not good then there are very much chances
to develop the cracks very easily.
2. This is the most popularly used in commercial projects likes
offices, restaurants etc..
In this there wouldn’t be any cracks .But should be careful while
filling the joints between sheets.
If you decide the false ceiling in the beginning of the project you
can actually save in electrical wiring. Since the false ceiling wiring
can be done by getting one point from the ceiling. This way you are
not required leave more points in the slab. Usually people prefer for
false ceiling in the living area with show lights.
If do the false ceiling usually the home theater speakers are wall
mounted type. Very few professional brands have ceiling mount
speakers. So in any case you need to run the audio wire on to the wall
from the ceiling .So it’s better to make the speakers provision within
the walls from the tv unit during the construction phase.
