Dear colleagues,

The LION17 (https://lion17.org/) Organizing Committee invites proposals for Special Sessions to be held during the 17th Learning and Intelligent Optimization Conference, in Nice, France, June 4-8, 2023.

Special session organizers will be responsible for advertising the session, reviewing and assisting in selecting the papers to be included in the special session. Special session organizers will be expected to attend the conference and chair their session. All papers accepted for special sessions will be included in the Springer LNCS Series post-proceedings.

Special Session Topics

Special sessions can be on any subject relevant to the overall theme of the conference. Topics should explore new ideas and open challenges at the intersection of optimization and machine learning. We are especially interested in proposals that will make the LION conference attractive to audiences that have not traditionally attended. Thus, topics that bridge communities or engage with industry and other real-world application areas are especially desired.

Submission Instructions

Proposals should include the following information:

1.) Name and affiliation of the proposer(s)
2.) Title of the session
3.) An abstract of the session topic (maximum 1500 characters)
4.) A short bio of the organizer(s) with a section on relevant prior experience in organizing academic events
5.) A list of at least ten researchers who, based on their research profile, could plausibly submit to the special session

Each special session will have at least 4 paper presentations. Special sessions proposals should be submitted to in...@lion17.org.

Important Dates

1.) Proposals submission deadline: September 15, 2022
2.) Notification of acceptance: September 21, 2022

I’m looking forward to your proposal, and to seeing you at LION 17.
