Dear all,

IMT Atlantique is hiring an Assistant Professor in Computer Science at its Nantes campus, within the Department of Automation, Industrial Engineering and Computer Science (DAPI), with a research affiliation to the TASC team of the LS2N ((Laboratoire des Sciences du Numérique de Nantes).

Research profil

The TASC team of  LS2N conducts research in Artificial Intelligence, with a particular focus on symbolic AI, Constraint Programming, and Decision Support. The team has a strong positioning in Human–centered AI and hybrid approaches combining symbolic reasoning, optimization, and learning. Its research relies on generic methods and reusable libraries integrated into its open-source solver Choco-solver, one of the reference solvers in constraint programming, internationally recognized.

Candidates are encouraged to align their research with one or more of the following themes:

  • Generic decision-support approaches : constraint programming, solving methods, and software development within the Choco solver.
  • Human–AI Interaction: modeling, learning, and integrating user knowledge and preferences for explainable and interpretable decisions.
  • Hybrid symbolic AI: approaches combining constraint reasoning, optimization, and learning to enhance the performance and robustness of classical symbolic AI.
  • Exploratory data modeling and analysis: data mining, machine learning, user-centered approaches, and explainability techniques for decision support.
  • Symbolic AI and industrial applications: constraint programming approaches for green Supply Chain and sustainable logistics, with an interest in transparent and frugal solutions.

Teaching profil

Involved both in the core curriculum and in the elective courses, the recruited candidate will contribute to teaching optimization and decision support for Supply Chain, and will deliver part of the AI courses in several programs.

He/she will also participate in the organization and delivery of the FISE Common Training Program, particularly in Mathematics, and contribute to the ongoing development of the FISE, FISA, and Master’s programs, as well as to the establishment of an Erasmus Mundus Master’s program.

Engaged in cross-disciplinary, interdisciplinary activities or those linked to companies: tutoring of projects/internships, oral presentations, coaching, etc. They will be invited to propose new projects, programs and related teaching methodologies, particularly inspired and supported by industrial requirements and partnerships. https://www.imt-atlantique.fr/en/stud

Engagement in the collective life of the department is expected.

Eligibility

The position is open to all candidates, with no nationality restrictions.

Job requirements

The candidate must hold a PhD in Computer Science or Applied Mathematics, or an equivalent degree recognized at the international level. A CNU qualification in sections 27 (Computer Science) or 26 (Applied Mathematics) is not required, but will be considered as a valuable asset.
