Dear all,
Please spread the following opening of a PhD position at Uppsala
University (Sweden) to relevant potential applicants:
https://uu.varbi.com/en/what:job/jobID:877372 .
The topic is interdisciplinary: Fair Social Network Analysis. The three
principal investigators of the underlying grant by the Swedish Research
Council will be the PhD advisors: a data scientist (as the main
advisor), a social scientist, and myself for combinatorial
optimisation. The project is about community detection (which is
closely related to clustering) within social networks, under side
constraints, namely social fairness. The idea is to take a declarative
approach, which also helps achieve explainability. The modelling
language MiniZinc will be used. Backends of solving technologies hooked
into the MiniZinc toolchain -- such as CP, LCG, MIP, SAT, CBLS, ..., and
information-sharing portfolios thereof -- will be experimented with.
Given the size of some social networks, it is likely that backends
implementing some flavour of local search will perform best, such as
(violation-based) constraint-based local search or large-neighbourhood
search. My Optimisation group will have a parallel project on
declarative local search and can thus interact with this project.
All the application details (required qualifications, desirable
additional qualifications, etc) are explained at the link above. I
encourage applicants from the community of this mailing list to contact
me if they have questions.
Cheers,
Pierre
