Ifyou are the holder of an App Store and iTunes gift card or code balance or have a balance in your Associated Balance, you can now use the gift card and code balance and the Associated Balance to purchase Products as well as Content.
3. Restrictions on Use of Gift CardsYou can use all forms of Gift Cards on the Apple online store or the Apple Store app or by calling 0800 048 0408 to purchase Content. However, only physical and digital Apple gift cards and codes can be used towards purchases in Apple Retail stores (i.e. you will not be able to use your Associated Balance in Apple Retail Stores). Some items may not be available for purchase.
Once you link a physical or digital Apple gift card or code to your Account, the balance becomes associated with your Associated Balance, and you will no longer be able to use the physical or digital Apple gift card or code.
Gift Cards purchased in the United Kingdom and content codes can only be linked to an Account in the United Kingdom and can only be used for purchases in the United Kingdom. However, Products purchased on the Apple online store may have restrictions on where they deliver. Please review Apple online store delivery terms for any restrictions.
Some Gift Cards may indicate that they can only be used to purchase Products, e.g. the Apple Store Gift Card. If you purchased or use a Gift Card that indicates it is only for Products, you cannot use that Gift Card to purchase Content.
Gift Cards are not redeemable for cash and cannot be returned for a cash refund (except as required by law), exchanged, resold or used to purchase Gift Cards. Unused Associated Balances are not transferable. Issuer maintains information about the status of gift cards or codes. You agree to not use Gift Cards or content codes in any manner that is unlawful, misleading, deceptive, unfair or otherwise harmful to Issuer, Apple or its customers. We and Apple reserve the right, to void or deactivate Gift Cards or content codes, suspend or terminate Accounts, request alternative forms of payment, suspend or terminate the ability to purchase Products or to purchase or use Content, cancel or limit orders and bill alternative forms of payment if the Gift Cards or content codes were obtained, used or associated with an Account unlawfully, fraudulently or otherwise in material breach of these Terms.
Content. When you purchase Content, the funds will be deducted first from the amount available in your Associated Balance. Any unused amount will remain in your Associated Balance. If your purchase exceeds the amount available in your Associated Balance, another authorised payment method on file may be charged. If that is not available, you will be asked to pay using another payment method, or the transaction will be cancelled.
When you purchase from the Apple online store, Apple Store app or via 0800 048 0408, the funds will be deducted first from the amount available on any gift cards or codes you enter at checkout, and second, from the amount available in your Associated Balance (if you are logged in to your Account and choose to apply your Associated Balance). If you use a payment method on file to add funds to your Associated Balance, prior to charging the payment method on file, an authorisation will occur for the amount of your purchase.
Promotion Period. Bonuses are only available during the promotional period, as defined by the Promotion terms and conditions, and while supplies last. The Bonus must be associated with an Account by the end of the period listed in the terms of the Promotion. You must be an individual end user located in the United Kingdom to obtain the Bonus and we, Apple and the Qualifying Retailers reserve the right to deny the Bonus to end users located outside the United Kingdom.
Restrictions. From time to time, Apple Media Services may run Promotions. Promotions may be limited by Account type, device, family status or payment method associated with your Account. Only one Bonus may be obtained per Account unless otherwise stated in the Promotion terms and conditions.
Redemptions of Bonuses are subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions at -services/itunes/uk/terms.html and these Terms. Promotion terms and conditions do not alter, in any way, the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions or these Terms.
Your Bonus is personal to you and may not be sold, transferred or assigned to, or shared with, family, friends or others or used by you for any commercial purpose. Bonuses are not eligible for refund or exchange. Bonuses received as a result of a Promotion have no cash value. Promotions are void where prohibited or restricted by law.
Neither Issuer nor Apple is responsible for any loss or damage resulting from any lost or stolen Gift Cards or content codes or use without your permission. Please take care of your Gift Card or content code. For physical gift cards and codes, risk of loss and title pass to the purchaser upon taking possession. For digital gift cards and codes, risk of loss and title pass to the purchaser upon electronic transmission to recipient. For content codes, which are distributed to you by Apple, risk of loss and title pass to you upon physical or electronic transmission to you or the person you have purchased the content code for.
If you are a resident of any European Union country or the UK, Switzerland, Norway or Iceland, these Terms and your relationship with us is governed by the laws of your usual place of residence. You can issue proceedings against us in the United Kingdom or in your local courts.

I was recently scammed into purchasing three $200 Apple gift cards. I now have $600 in gift cards with no use for them. My wife and I both have IPhones, IPads, and a Mac computer with no plans to upgrade any time soon. I have not activated the cards yet and did not forward information as requested as I discovered the scam in time. Is there anyway to return to Apple for a refund?Duane M
Contacts were compromised and request to purchase came from president of organization with confirmation for reimbursement from treasurer and I fell for it. Discovered as scam after purchase before sending cards to supposedly charity organization. Retailers said Apple aware of scam with their cards and have limited amount that can be purchased at one time which I discovered when I went back to refund!
If the card codes were never given to the scammer, then Apple and their affiliate have the money. They should have an easy refund process, but they are (so far in my relative's case) not making it easy. Given that the class-action suit against the company regarding this, and that Apple actually makes a large profit when the scams occur, it seems that they would be wise to be far more cooperative with victims.
I absolutely thing Apple has an obligation to refund money on the scam cards if they have not been opened. Obviously they are aware of the scammers promoting this so in my opinion they are complicit in the scam. I have $600 worth of cards but no need of any additional Apple products as I have all I need!
